it's my party, and i'll cry if i want to.....

ok, girls. this one's for you. every girl out there knows that sometimes you just gotta cry. sometimse you laugh 'til you cry, sometimes you cry b/c you're sad, sometimes b/c you're happy, sometimes you cry b/c you are thinking of something sad...even if it hasn't happened to you at all, sometimes you cry b/c of a movie, and sometimes you cry just b/c you've had a rough day.

i do not consider myself a "crier". i stay away from mushy, sad movies....i'm really a comedy fan. i try not to think of sad things (it used to be so i wouldn't cry, but now i realize that i was worrying instead of trusting God). normally, i can contain my emotions during arguments. this dates back to my childhood--get tough or get out, you'll recall is our family motto. uncle paul. but when you just gotta cry, you just gotta cry.

so tuesday night, nathan and i were locked in deep discussion about something so silly. we both knew it wasn't a huge argument, just a misunderstanding that had to be ironed out. and quite frankly, we had just spent the last hour snuggled up on the couch watching house--one of our favorites--and since we rarely snuggle up together on the couch, i really didn't want to end the night with a heated discussion. we smoothed everything out rather quickly, and as nathan was finishing explaining something i started crying. who knows why. i don't really have a reason for you. even now, i can't figure out what the stink was my deal. i could tell nathan thought something else was wrong, so i really tried to stop crying. honestly, i tried. and then he dropped the bomb no girl wants to hear, "why are you crying? is it 'girl time' or something?" no girl wants to hear that. we don't always have an answer, it's not always 'girl time', and quite frankly, it's difficult to talk when you're crying. i could have strangled him. it almost got worse, but he later told me that he stopped himself from quoting my family's motto--get tough or get out. thankfully, he didn't whip that one out. instead he just pulled me back over for a hug. nathan has come to know in our five years that sometimes i just need a hug when i'm crying. i don't need the "get tough" speech, i don't want to be alone, i just need a hug. and then i need a serious chuckle which he is very good at accomplishing. after that he said, "i'm sure glad we have a boy!" and we just started cracking up. the whole thing was so stupid, but at least it gave us a good laugh.

last night we had our special valentine's dinner.....pizza so i didn't have to cook!! :) i made some heart shaped cookies for dessert. and nathan got me a pair of brown boots i had been eyeing on ebay. that was way better than roses! finally i won't be freezing in church. it was a delightful valentine's day with my favorite valentines.

check me out, i'm wearin' dad's hat.

it's just a little big.

see i can be a thug.....

hahahaha! ok, no i can't. i'm too happy!

I used to be "emtionally constipated" and rarely cried, but since Geoff... well, I've cried much (not because of him though-just my emotional roller coaster!) :)
Hugs seems to help the most with the tears & emotions.
BTW, we are addicted to House. Love that show!

Awe, it's ok, Christina. Lord knows, I'm known to have a good cry over nothing. It feels better too, I think.

I suppose you shouldn't be too hard on Nathan for his insensitive comment. I'm pretty sure he said, "Why are you crying? Girl time?" to me in highschool. ha! It was a VERY good thing he didn't pull the family motto out of his sleeve though. Good for him. :)

This is the aforementioned "Uncle Paul". For the record I did not originate this phrase, your father used it on your mother in high school. I was simply trying to reach out and touch the "huffers", being the big high school swimmer. The simple fact that I spoke to your mother should have been more than enough.
Back to reality and the 21 century. If you can get your very cute offspring to say my name then the college off still applies. Paul
