not to worry girls, i did get the house cleaned up. and i must say, i was pooped. i spent much of the previous evening cleaning and straightening. nathan loved the pictures i framed and we both said it's so homey now. we love it. and he loved my "little surprise". i painted all the baseboards in the living room, dining room, and hallway. it's just one of those jobs that got put off by big jobs and never got done. i had to wait until connor went to bed everynight though b/c i knew he would touch them or throw a ball against them. so that's why i was up so late everynight. nathan jokingly said to do the baseboards before he left so i knew he would really be surprised if i got it done. and he loved it.
he's off again tonight, so i am doing laundry like mad today. and connor's up. tater tots for lunch! one of his faves.....he's such a boy. meat, potatoes, bread, meat, potatoes, bread......what does he think this is? the dark ages??
here's the b&w wall. the tv tray posing as a side table will someday be replaced with a wicked cool entertainment center from ikea. i've got my eye on it still! it's the same height as the one we have but it has storage drawers so no more clutter! :)
and here's what i call the "water wall" all of the pictures have water in the background. in the center is just our fam ....connor alone, the trio in front of a florida sunset, and my fave pic at the jetty. on the sides are connor with each of our parents. and then one with each of us with him alone. what's that? you can't see the picture of connor with my parents?? oh, that's b/c none exist. that's right. we've lived twenty minutes from them and i have no pictures of them with connor. i have my dad with connor. i have my mom with connor. i have my mom and dad. but i have NO pics of the two with connor. so next week, i'll be going over there to take some pics by the river. for the love. (thanks kt for reviving that one!! it just feels good! :)

oh, yeah, we are big fans of color. right now, we seem to be in an earth tone phase...i'm sure it'll change in six months. nathan loves to repaint.
that reminds me of the time when tim came up here looking for houses and i redecorated our apartment in greenville (great timing, huh? redecorate when we're ready to leave)! i was actually talking to him on the phone while i was stapling fabric over the chairs to recover them!!
it's fun to surprise them with that kind of stuff!!!

it is fun! we used to do that EVERY time my dad went on a hunting trip. we wanted to see how long it took him to realize what we had done. once, he left at night, and my mom had us go to bed with work clothes on. dad came in to say goodnight, and we were covered up so he wouldn't see the work clothes. soon as he left we jumped out of bed and sawed apart our bunkbeds and made a daybed. that was our all time best!
You TOTALLY used a tape measure or a level for those - they are tooo perfectly spaced! It looks awesome! I "eyeball" everything - and my eyeballs must be a little crooked! :)
i'm a big fan of eyeballin' it. but lucky for me these came with mounting gear that included a level!! amazing. they were so easy to put up. you first nail the level to the wall, level it out, nail it in place, then add screws to secure it. the shelf attaches to the level! and if they're off a few inches right to left, the shelf can slide both ways until it's in just the right spot. which worked really well b/c of studs. they made it so idiot proof it almost wasn't fun. ok, who am i kidding? it was a blast!

Great job! Ok Pottery Barn catalog here we come! I always just nail up the pictures and have to move them b/c I didn't take the time to level them. You'd think I'd learn. Anyways - looks very classy :)
