what a bum

i have noticed that since nathan's been gone i have made up every excuse to NOT clean my house. i am unbelieveable! it is so bad. right now, there's a torn up eastbay magazine on the floor of the office, and i'm just looking at it thinking.......hmm....that's a shame. i should really pick that up.
ok, i know, everyone needs a break every once in a while. but break's over girl! get off your toosh! i am going to kick it into high gear after this. ok, i'm waiting for the blast of motivation......nothin'. i guess it's just nice to chill out for a while. usually i try super hard to keep things neat. now, that doesn't always happen....we are people living in a real house with a real baby boy.

we took lunch over to aunt nicole's today. that was delightful. ava was....as usual....cute. she was eating connor's food off his tray faster than i could replenish it. connor could have cared less. he was twirling the wheels on a toy car ava had given him....she's no dummy. give the kid a toy, then take his food. mission accomplished.

the girls i babysit love to play with some of my purses. so i hadn't taken them upstairs yet....b/c i hadn't cleaned, remember? well, connor pulls up on the couch and grabs one. he starts playing with it, flinging it around, trying to open it. i gasped! "DUDE! boys don't play with purses!!" then today he was grabbing some of aunt nic's lotion that ava had! what's up!! and to top it off he wanted to read ava's princess book!! we had some serious monster truck play time when we got home. that's for sure. tonight we're gonna watch some chuck norris and do some karate just to get the manly juices flowing. maybe i'll just turn on some hunting shows in the background. that should do the trick. no more gilmore for that boy!

so i got connor these cool new spoons--great tip, kelly. but they're not really spoons, they're just dipping sticks. so connor can dip into baby food and learn to use a spoon. he's actually getting it down. of course, he makes a huge-o mess in the proccess. but that's what kids do. last night he used it for some veggies, this morning he tried it with his oatmeal. we're working on the whole "dip your spoon not your hand" idea. it's a work in progress. but i think he's got potential.

see? i can do it!!

yes, he's wearing a white shirt. yes, it went straight to the sink to soak in shout. no, i'm not crazy...just a realist. i just didn't know that all i had were mixed veggies when i dressed him that morning. no biggie, it's just a shirt.

does it go in my ear?? HA. just jokin' ya mom.

i know i'm covered in veggies, but i'm just so stinkin' adorable. no one can resist this mess. well, maybe some people, but they must not like veggies.

It's just the 2 of us, and my house is a wreck now too. Funny how if you leave something of the floor long enough, it just blends in & becomes part of the decor. :) I think it's time to invite someone over - now, that's motivation.

Christina,
I say be a bumm... You deserve it! Why do it today when you can put it off until tomorrow! :-)

Connor is getting so big and that grin... What a cutie! I love reading your blog.

pam-
that's so true, and funny! i just cleaned up the office floor and i thought, boy these floors really are nice. now as for connor's floor.....toys, toys, toys. i think they'll stay for a while. oh, goodness, if i invited someone over right now i would freak. that might be too much motivation. :)

that sounds like a great philisophy. i think i'll start that movement worldwide!! who's with me?

Adorable pictures of Connor! Don't worry, the night before your husband comes home is when motivation always seems to present itself, for now enjoy the clutter :)

Don't worry about connor playing with purses. G used to that when we was about connors age, but G used to grab my purse and put the strap over his arm and say "bye, bye". Just look at it this way, he just loves his mommy so much, he watns to be just like her! Just don't paint his nails and give him a barbie and he'll be just fine!

Ok when hal is gone from us we eat cereal for dinner or grill cheese. OFten it is pizza (oh i hate saying that cuz it makes me want some lil ceasars) and then I swear the kids to secrecy that we were such slobs. Do it now while connor cant tell on you. Spiff it up before he hits the door and all is well. ENJOY :)
