my little shadow

well... not MY shadow. at least, not my shadow entirely. we've all known it since we were little. we've done it ourselves. and now that we're all grown up... almost.... we see it again. imitation. they see it all. they do it all. kids watch EVERYTHING. usually, when this comes up it's b/c your kid yells, "oh, crap!" YOURS. not mine. i never mess up and say angry or ugly words in front of my kid, so i can't speak from experience.... pfffff! ok, you saw through that rather quickly. and yes, connor has yelled "oh, crap." in fact, i'm not 100% convinced, but i think meg did too the other day... yeah, reflections of parenting 101.

anyway.... this time i have some cute imitations. those are the kind we LIKE. :)

so, connor has taken to asking this question before any task is approached: "well, is daddy going to?" sometimes it varies. sometimes it's, "what do you think daddy would do?".... "will daddy wear it this way?"..... "MOM! i need my hat. dad has one." nothing is accomplished unless we officially and thoroughly discuss what daddy would do in the exact same situation. i thought about making bracelets: WWDD: what would daddy do? it was super cute the first time i heard it and my mommy heart melted. but now i just want to say, "connor put on these pants.... YES, your father would do the same thing. he wears pants. daily." it's still cute. and kind of interesting to see the depth to which he will go in order to do EXACTLY what his father is doing. and now as i write this i have to wonder to what extent i will go to imitate my Father. not my dad... though i've noticed more and more grant-isms coming with age. but i mean my Heavenly Father. we just finished the first half of the book of acts in women of the word. now THOSE are some fired up peeps. seriously, read the first 12 chapters. and imagine living your whole life bringing sacrifices to the temple, separating from "unclean" gentiles, looking for the Messiah, living under the law.... and it wasn't just the 10 commandments. and then BOOM this Jesus comes on the scene saying HE is God's promised Messiah. He's GOD. and they believed Him. and they followed Him. and they were joyful to be counted worthy of torture, beatings, prison... all b/c they claimed His name. amazing. they saw Jesus die for them. they were willing to do the same for Him. challenging no doubt. connor does it without even thinking. but somehow, it takes me 10 minutes of working myself up for it just to start a conversation with another mom at the park in the hopes that i might tell her to come visit our church. WHAT??? craziness. step it up, girl.

well, bad paragraph planning... actually, it was non-planning that lead to that last part, but i do have another connor story that i rather enjoyed. today we went over to visit gramma sanders. connor and meg were playing with the blocks on the floor. non-stop playing. running around. just having a fun time. a little while later my cousin dillon came over to take out gramma's trash. he went to the kitchen, grabbed a coke, plopped down in a chair, and munched on an orange slice candy. connor watched him walk in and followed his every move. within seconds connor was up in his chair sipping his 7-up and munching his cookie. dill took a bite, connor took a bite. dill took a drink, connor took a drink. it. was. a.dorable. then, connor looks at dillon and says, "so, daniel came by on saturday. that was nice. how's he doin'?" baaaahahahaha!!! i have the best kid ever. he sat there making chit chat and pretending he was as big as dillon. i loved it. i guess i love it b/c i know that when he looks up to my cousins, he's got good examples. they are some of the best.

so, know this: MY SON IS WATCHING YOU! behave.
