2010. the year of my 30s. craziness. i love the beginning of the year. it always brings fresh resolve. i know i typically discuss the funny things --also many, many mundane things-- that happen in my household, but today i'll ask you to forgive my lack of joviality--- it's a word. i looked it up.
another thing i love about the beginning of the year is prayer week at my church. i love my church. i love the people. i love the leaders. i love the worship. i love that each year we renew our dependance on our God and humbly beg Him to carry us... or drag us.... through another year. whichever we need. i admit i need more dragging. i guess i just think of it as dragging b/c when things are hard it feels like a rough ride, but the truth is we can always know He carries us. lovingly. patiently.
no doubt, our year has already been full of God working and Satan attacking. i've smiled with friends enjoying or awaiting the arrival of their new babies. i've cried for family hurting b/c of sudden and heartbreaking sickness.....more so for the state of the lost souls involved than for any of the physical pain they may endure. i've been reminded to reflect on God's goodness by the loss of dear servants from within...and without.... our church.
last night was brutal. meg pie was awake on and off from about 12:30am to 3:30am or so. i ended up coming downstairs and just sitting at the computer for a while. when she's waking up every 45 minutes, it's just a waste of my energy to try to sleep. and frankly, it's quite a deterrent to my sanctification. so i went through my "when i'm up i'll pray for you" list.... carol you're covered for about a week, girl. ;) i did some reading, played some tetris..... yeah, it's a sickness. then i turned into my mother. i did two loads of laundry. by 5am i was getting pretty tired. i plopped down on the couch to watch the morning news. i was trying to stay awake b/c i wanted to make sure i made it to women of the word. that has been such an encouragement to me these past two years. i knew it would be the same today. but sure enough i fell asleep and woke up just in time to be late. i was going to ride with my gramma, but she had to be there early and i knew we wouldn't make it for her. no problem. nathan had time to drop us off... that is, IF we could get the car started. and as it was, today we could not accomplish that goal. well, we couldn't accomplish it before 10am. but our little blue doesn't give up easily.

i started typing this two weeks ago. blogging has become this to me. i get five minutes to put my thoughts together and i start typing... and then someone interrupts me. life as a mother is just a series of interruptions. i'm sure other jobs are like that too. but i haven't had many other jobs. this one is my longest running position, so this is the one i know the best. i guess when i started this i was just in a reflective mood. i'm always ready for a good laugh, but sometimes i just get overwhelmed with the ugly parts of this life. it's so good to know that this is not the end. i have a feeling that if i didn't know Christ i'd be a super depressed individual. but i DO know HIM. and it's b/c of Him that i can have hope.
so i will end with the obligatory grandparent pictures. these are from nathan's phone, so the quality may not be stellar... but i'd say it's pretty good.

my brave knight and sweet princess

hey girl! i was just thinking about you the other day and missing your posts...totally understanding that i go off the radar for months at a time as well. such is life! meg is getting so big!
isn't it neat how the Lord gives us strength to get through each of our days! praising Him for His new daily mercies!
yeah, it's been easy to just post the funnies on fb for the grandparents. oh, but i did see your new header... cute, cute! meg's not just big.. she's ginormous. :~/ i can fit all of her hair in a pony now and i was so depressed when that happened.... haha! of course, that comes with a whole new style of sass. :)
as i listen to the sounds of my clean house being slowly destroyed and becoming unorganized, i can wholeheartedly give an amen for the daily mercy HE gives! :)
I love knowing that I am on your "list" and just being on it is an encouragement to me! Thanks for your faithfulness to pray for me! You are on my list...you are prayed for at lunch here over my ever so impressive peanut butter and jelly.
Personally i love all your posts that make me laugh but this is one of my favorites....you said what we have all felt at one time or another but we do not speak as those who have no hope! We are so blessed to call Him Father!
I'll be thinkin about ya come lunchtime tomorrow....you might be up playing tetris :)
carol... you rock. that's all. :)
loved that shirt w/ the pink stripped sleeves and green polo top. Meg is so cute. She looks so much like connor too. cracks me up that they looked so different at birth but look similar now.
