connor went tubing for the first time. i missed it b/c i was with megan taking a much needed nap. but i'm told he did great and had a blast. we tromped through the woods, swam and jumped from trees, climbed the sand hills, drove unsuspecting families from their quiet fishing spots. nothing out of the ordinary.
gramma cooked more red meat than i could have imagined any family could consume.... and yet, when everyone was finished there was not a hamburger in sight. the steaks were phenomenal.... and yes, the picture is real-- papa grilled!! i've never seen this in all of my days, but i'll say he did an excellent job. i think there were about 50 cans of cinnamon rolls consumed, 6 big bags of chips (and i accidentally stumbled upon a new kind of dorito that i actually like.... spicy chili something or other). and through all the junk food there were about 10 lbs. of peaches, plums, grapefruit, and bananas chowed down too. i've never seen nathan eat so much fruit. it was amazing. and proof that he CAN eat fruits and veggies. the boys wore their short cut off jeans and sported some stunning mustaches. daniel looked like something straight out of melvindale.
we left thursday morning at about 5:30am and made it up with no traffic at all. connor was so excited to get there he was awake from the time we got him into the car until well after 10pm that night. i couldn't believe it. for three days before we left he kept asking, "are we going at the cabin today?" the next 3 days were full of non-stop action. even our down time was action packed. i love just sitting around the fire telling funny stories. we hit the river and found some trees to jump out of..... don't worry it was jumping into the water. my dad told the pizza story... complete with mood music courtesy of derek and his guitar.
the boys left friday night, everyone else left saturday, and we stuck around until sunday afternoon and fought the traffic home. but we had a nice time with just our family on the river that morning.
i'm going to try to link the pictures i posted from facebook b/c i don't want to upload them again.... i have tons to do this week, so if i can't figure it out you'll just have to imagine what everyone looks like one year older than our last trip.

loved the pictures. Tried to add you as a friend on facebook but your name did not come up when I searched for it. Did you post your album under Nate's facebook?
