sickness engulfs us

not totally. but it feels like it. connor had a wicked fever yesterday, so he was a bump on the couch all day. i was right next to him b/c he had been up half the night before. somehow i managed to get a shower though.... unfortunately, i can't say the same for today. :~/ i am a slug today. it's almost like i kicked it into high gear yesterday to cool down the little man and now it's finally hitting me that in the past 48 hours i've only slept about 6. i am DEFINITELY taking a nap today. :~)

nathan had a business dinner last night, so when i ran out of medicine for connor i was so thankful that i had my aunt claudia's car. nicole and i are doing paper route for them this week and i had her car b/c of that. i bundled up the poor little guy and dragged him out to cvs. he was a ball of fire (much like my fingers...haha!), but he was a trooper just long enough for me to get him some motrin. i got him some of those pedialyte popcicles too. he was pretty excited to see those puppies.

i could tell you that his fever broke exactly at 7:20pm b/c that's when he started rhyming for me. he was sitting on the couch watching wheel of fortune....yeah, we live an exciting life when we have a sicky... and he asked for juice and "two kix"--that's what he calls kix. miracle of miracles! he called out, "mommy bo bommy! can i have two kix please?" when i laughed about mommy bo bommy he started saying everyone's name with that rhyme. daddy bo baddy, ava bo bava, connor bo bonnor.... and then the one that made me laugh out loud (and regret it soon after) christina bo bina. once he realized what a comedian he was there was no stopping him. he never moved from the couch, but he was definitely back on the upswing. soon after that he fell asleep and didn't wake up until about 8:30pm when daddy came home.

he woke up at a completely unrighteous hour this morning, coughing his little head off. thankfully, nathan had to get up anyway so he went down and snuggled him for a few minutes. since then, we have been slugs on the couch. soon daddy will be home for lunch, so i have to kick it into high gear to de-gross this joint and get some food on the table. no chance of a shower before then, but i warned him already. sometimes i really enjoy these sick days. it's the only time connor wants to snuggle, and it's always nice to slow down for a day and just have some thinking time for myself and talking time with my little man. i'm just thankful that nathan understands that when we have a sick day the house comes to a screeching halt and he doesn't expect things to run as they normally do. in fact, he even said last night, "aren't you glad you can sit and snuggle him on the couch when he's sick." yep. i sure am. i'm very thankful even for the sick days.

my mom always made the couch into a bed for us when we were sick. connor loves to have his special bed like this. this was after daddy came home and his fever was gone. probably the most he had moved all day.

my poor baby.... his eyes always tell how he's really feeling.

he caught daddy snapping some pictures and gave an "i'm feeling better" smile. and yes, that's drool on his shoulder. he is getting some molars and when he sucks his thumb he is a drool monster. he was a big time puddle maker yesterday.

this morning when connor woke up he wanted to go watch cartoons with daddy. such a snuggler when he's sick.

I know what you mean about the eyes. I can usually tell when Gavin is about to get sick just by looking at him. It is so sad when they are sick, but I do love that snuggly time, as well! I hope that he is on the up and up very soon!

It is nice sometimes to have those sick days to make yourself slow down and rest and snuggle. Yeah my little one never really wanted to snuggle unless she was exhausted or sick and normally daddy was her constant companion :).
