goodbye, brett!
i'm sure you're all aware that brett favre is calling it quits. i know you're all heartbroken. but not as much as my nate. and i'm sure if connor had a clue what was going on he'd be bummin' too. i know the packers will still be nathan's team, but it just won't be the same. hopefully, he'll do some commentating so nathan won't have to go cold turkey. is favre very articulate? would he be a good addition to a football commentating team? how does he look in a suit? that's the real question.... if he looks like he should be wearing a baseball hat instead of the suit they won't put him on air. and if he can't be funny like charles barkley then i don't want him on air either. well, actually.... i don't know that charles barkley is all that funny, but i've seen a guy do some pretty funny impressions of him and the commercials with those basketball guys were good. frankly, i don't watch many sports. i can't stand pro hoops, football is bearable if it's the packers, baseball is ok, and hockey is the only one i'd watch by myself. i'd go see anything in real life, but on tv i could take it or leave it.
but back to the issue at hand..... i know there are some packer fans out there. what do you think? would brett be a good commentator? i think so. do you think he should have hung on for one more year or do they not have a good chance at a run for the big dance next year?

Yes, Charles Barkley IS all that funny.
I don't know how you can not like, dare I say love, watching baseball.
As much as Nate love the Packers I gotta tell ya...they're really not that good. That's why Brett has had enough. He has played pro for 17 years, posting some of the highest numbers in quarterback history. The Packers never gave him a team to play with and he still took them to the super bowl. He is one of the greatest quarterbacks ever and he has always played with class both on and off the field. He posted some of his best numbers this year. The ream he was on may not have won the super bowl but he can certainly go out on top. (and Charles Barkley IS funny)
You do raise some interesting questions. I hate to see Brett leave, the Pack just won't be the same without him. I know Connor is weeping in his heart (or maybe will one day) Yes, I do think Brett will make a good commentator. He is very intelligent, has a sweet wife, and nice kids. After all, he's from WI, so he is a "real man" - you know, "he wears flannel!!!"

YOU are the reason i despise watching baseball on tv. it's one of my faves to go see live. you used your brute strength to control the remote and would ONLY watch baseball and i wanted to poke out my eyes with a hot poker!! i hated it! and if i could've taken you i would've fought for the remote! and yes, i was asking if you thought he'd look decent in a suit. i think he'd pull it off nicely. he's got a nice clean-cut look to him.

HAHA! he wears flannel!! yeah, i agree. definitely should stick around and commentate. and yes, we will most likely not be watching as much football now that he's gone. he was the backbone of the team and nathan honestly called me today and said, "babe, i'm in mourning." haha! it was too funny!
My dad doesn't think he will commentate, and since he partly owns the Packers (1 share :), he must know. I don't know myself. I don't blame him for retiring. I think he's held on "one more year" a few years now.
And Charles Barkley is hilarious.
i too have to agree that charles barkley is indeed quite hilarious. we love when the pistons play on TNT b/c we get to see him and kenny making jabs at each other. that's a nice thing about men. they can make fun of each other all day and just laugh it off. anyway, i do like brett favre, but don't know enough about of the other issues you raised to comment!!
We are in mourning too now that Brett is retiring. We thought he'd stick it out one more year since he obviously still has the talent and ability to play at the top of his game. I'm sure the pack won't have a chance at a superbowl run again for many years now that they're losing Brett.
I have to disagree with everyone - I do NOT think Favre would make a good commentator. He's just too much of a real guy to be put into a suit and make up (Joe Buck looks positively frightening to me with that orange foundation and hairsprayed hair!) and make dumb jokes like most commentators do.
We are all so sad - we had high hopes the Packers could maybe do well again next year. Now here we go again for another decade of "rebuilding" ugh! I don't know if Brett would do a lot of commentary - maybe like Tony Siragoosa (sp?) where he commentates on the sidelines for the inside scoop from the coaches. But, I think he'll wait a couple of years until he gets bored, then he might.
Bears fan. No comment this time. Next time, write about something interesting. :)
