tally christmas

friday before we left for greenville we had the tally christmas at my parents house. we were going to go over just for dinner b/c nathan, mike and my mom all had to work fairly normal hours that day. we couldn't plan it for any other time, so it just seemed like our christmas was getting cut short. my dad was home all day b/c he had vacation, and he was cooking the dinner. i called my sister and asked her if she would want to go over there early so at least dad could have more fun time with the kids. she went for it, so we basically threw the kids in the car and ran out the door hoping we had everything we needed for the rest of the night.

we had a few things to do before heading over, so it was just about lunch time when we got there. about 2pm we were all surprised to hear the door opening. my mom came flying through the door saying, "don't touch me! don't touch me! lysol everything i've touched!" if you know my mom you know she can be pretty dramatic.... i'm allowed to say that b/c i'm the same way--thanks for the genetics, by the way. but even for her this was over the top. the kids were so confused b/c of course when she walked in they ran over to give her hugs. turns out there was some sort of epidemic at her school. an airborne virus was taking over. kids were puking left and right, the health department had been called, teachers were instructed to go home and take the hottest shower they could stand, leave their coats and bags in the car overnight, and start an intense treatment of airborne over the next day. the only reason my mom actually came home early was b/c she didn't have any more students for the rest of the day. so in one way it was cool that she came home early, but on the other hand we all felt sick as soon as she got out of the shower and told us the whole story. thankfully, none of us got sick. i guess shortly after my mom left school they finally decided to call parents and close down the school. nice try, but over half the student body was already infected. you never want to see kids get sick, but it was pretty cool that my parents got to have an extended christmas with our kids. extended from what we thought it would be. even better was when mike and nathan both showed up before we expected them. so a weird start, but funny ....now that no one in our family got sick.

connor was thrilled to open his christmas presents. he got a brett favre jersey.... he opened it and yelled "football! go packers!" he also got a cool race track and some hot wheels to go with it. with his gift card we bought a fun higglytown hero toy and a cool big guy cup with NO sippy lid. that's a big deal lately. we got the one gift that fits everyone... cashola. and our yearly ornaments, they were cute. and i got some new makeup and brushes... fabulous! connor and ava got pj's for their sleepover at grampa and bb's on new year's eve, and they got bouncy balls that would have been enough to keep connor satisfied... until he saw his jersey and cars.

so here they are....my last christmas pictures. after this i've got some great videos and party stories from new year's. connor had a pretty serious party hangover. betcha didn't think a two-year-old could have a hangover... oh, just wait. this kid partied hard. at one point i counted 8 life saver gummies in his mouth. EIGHT! what kind of mother am i? a fun one. :)

let the feasting begin! we had snacks galore and the kids kept getting new plates for one pretzel.

reading with a now clean and germ free bb

a bouncy ball! wait, connor, there's more!

as part of their gifts and meant as a joke, nicole got my mom a chain for her glasses and got my dad a pill organizer. just as she suspected, they both laughed and then told us how they were going to get these things for themselves. my parents are the only people that go out and buy things for themselves in december. for crying out loud.... stop shopping for yourselves around the holidays! it makes life a lot harder for us!

my dad got a non-stick frying pan. yeah, he's a cook.

making some muscles in his new jersey

touchdown!

nathan's cheesehead was in the car.... hilarious.

our ornaments: a volleyball for nathan, mitten for me, and snowman for ace

ready, set, go!

we got ava this housekeeping set. she loves to play pretend.

but her new love is ponies. i never knew a little girl could love ponies so much at her age.

isn't she a doll?

here they are getting more food. anything to get a new plate.

watching tom and jerry in grampa's man room.

merry christmas!

LOVE the favre jersey! Who're the packer fans in your tres-michigander family?

By the way, what pony set did Ava get that she likes so much? Chloe just got a little pet shop hospital which she likes but doesn't get super into. Always looking for new toy ideas for her . . .

nathan definitely stands alone in his cheese headiness.... i've just taken the supporting role since i really don't get into football. but connor is green through and through. he's been trained from the beginning. :)

as far as the ponies go... i'll have to ask my sister. i know she got a bunch from everyone and she was thrilled.

1. Love the picture of the whole fam!

2. Hilarious pic of Connor in the cheesehead Nathan had in the car? Yes. But not half as hilarious as the fact that Nathan HAD a cheesehead in the car! hee hee!

Any of the my little pony things were thrilling Ava and still are surprisingly. Her cousin got a my little pet shop and ended up putting those in the my little pony houses that Ava got. Av was the one who said she wanted them though...saw them on a commercial and online and was super excited about getting those 'at her house' so...not every kid may be so into them.

brenda-
yeah, i'm just glad he doesn't wear it every time he watches the pack. :) i think it was in there for thanksgiving (packers-lions.... nathan HAD to have it to mock my lion loving fam) and then it was forgotten in the trunk until this night. the fact that it was in the car is pretty funny though. :)
