WAY too fast!

i knew it would happen. i was warned. but a girl can dream, right? well, only for a while. then you wake up and smell reality. no, i'm not getting all mushy and gushy about connor growing up. b/c first of all, i'm not the mushy and gushy type. and second of all, how can i be mushy and gushy when connor cracks me up with his 'i'm not a baby anymore, mommy!' routine.

every night without fail, i check on connor on my final check of the house. i lock the car, check the doors and windows, turn off all the lights, make sure everything is set for the next day, and then check on the little man. i used to check on him to see if he needed his blankets fixed. then i realized the little contortionist would NEVER keep blankets on, nor would he sleep in what i would consider a comfortable sleeping position. so it soon became our evening entertainment. what weird spot would connor be in tonight? last night was great. he was in a backwards c shape with his face smushed into the short wall of his crib and his back arched with both arms straight behind him. he looked like he was doing a swan dive in his sleep. but it was crazy to imagine back to when we first brought him home and he took up just a few inches of his crib. now he's all over that thing.... literally.

he's been talking up a blue streak too. he has been slowly putting together sentences which is a hoot in and of itself. the other day he bumped into me and said, "sorry, mom." i was so taken aback by the fact that he had appologized i totally overlooked the 'mom' switch. since when is he allowed to call me me 'mom'? i thought that was reserved for 5 and 6-year-olds. he's not even 2!! what's up with that?? i'm supposed to me mama or mommy....not MOM! i guess it's better than what he's been doing to nathan lately. nathan was upstairs changing and connor was sitting in his highchair eating. out of the blue he starts yelling out, "naaaaafan! nafan! naaaaafan!" nathan staggers bewildered down the stairs and says, "what did he just say?" to which i replied, "yep. you know it." so he asks connor, "what's my name?" and connor smirks with his reply of, "daddy." now it's a big joke to him and he will randomly yell "nafan!" kind of like when he would stand at the bottom of the stairs and yell, "hey babe!" hmm? wonder where he learned that one?

yesterday he was sitting on my lap looking out the window and he said a very clear sentence. i couldn't believe he had strung that many words together. he was looking at the side of our neighbor's house and said, "look, mom a flower!" which sounded more like, "yook, mom a fyower!" i love how little kids talk!

and i will leave you with some pics of my little man proving that he is indeed a little man. he's very into his physique lately.

making muscles with dillon.

WARNING: my house is extremely messy in these.
EXCUSE: we had just come home from the cabin saturday and i wasn't about to clean everything on sunday.
make sure you pay attention to connor in the first video. he's chowing a chip and he makes sure he gets it in before starting his vigorous workout. hilarious!

It's so precious how much little boys want to be just like their Dads. Want an awesome responsibility parents have!

Oh how sweet!! He has grown up so much. I can picture the "sleep" position - similar to Daddy! The muscle and push-ups are super, but the growl is the best!
Love ya,

i don't see the mess. where's the mess?

it is cool when the kids start putting phrases together.

"hey babe" is classic. lately landon and auburn have been referring to each other and dalton as "honey".

Connor sounds just like Chloe the sleep contortionist - though I never found her doing a swan dive. Thank the Lord for bedrails on her big girl bed! She'd be on the floor after 2 minutes without them.

unfortunately he's already a flirt. the other day out of nowhere he says, "rory is my friend." the weird thing is i'm pretty sure she hasn't been in his class since promotion sunday. but i think he really misses her!
