we had quite a fun filled weekend. nathan brightened up my semi-spring break when he came home with some gorgeous daisies--my fave! then, friday evening we hit the mall for dinner with gift cards and coupons burning holes in our pockets. this is honestly the first season in connor's life that i've had to buy more than just a pair of pants or a shirt. i'm so thankful for the Lord's provision in that way. and quite honestly, this time was nothing short of amazing. i had a $10 coupon for baby gap and they had a great sale rack of last seasons short sleeved polo shirts. he still had a polo gift card from uncle jo-g so we picked up a really nice church shirt. and the last one is pretty fun too. i received a gift card to mervyn's as a baby shower gift....yeah, i know. he's a year and a half and i'm not sure how i didn't spend it right away, but the bottom line is... i didn't. one day i drove past the only mervyn's close by our house and found it closed. 'hmm...i'm going to have to find another mervyn's.' i looked it up online and found out that there are no more mervyn's in michigan. in fact, there are no mervyn's on the east coast. they are all in the southwest now. so i called their customer service and asked if they were affiliated with any other stores. in other words, could i ever use this card around here? nope. so i said, 'oh, i guess i'll have to order something online.' the lady said, "sorry, we don't have online shopping." okaaaaay. so i asked her what she would suggest since i didn't plan on coming to texas anytime soon. she just laughed and told me to send the card back to their corporate hq and ask for a refund. now, if there's anything i like to do it's write a letter to some corporate hq. seriously, i love it. i wax eloquent when i am corresponding with corporate peeps. all that to say, i just got the check from mervyn's hq so i could finally use the money that was connor's in the first place. so i hit old navy for the little man and got him more shirts. those weekend purchases nearly finished off his "need for summer" clothes list. for the rest i'm going to hit some consignment shops and see what tj maxx has to offer.
saturday was tons of fun too. nathan was invited to play ultimate frisbee with some other downriver vb coaches, so connor and i went to target for some out of the house time and nathan went and had a blast running through a field in flat rock. it was FREEZING and SNOWING, but he said it was super fun. later that day we got a group together and went to play some volleyball. let me tell ya....i haven't played in a LONG time but i had a blast! i found out that yes, there are muscles in your fingers, and yes, they can be very sore after setting a volleyball for even just a short time. connor came with us and he really wanted to get in on the action. he tried to come out on the floor a few times, but he had a ball to play with and food when that got boring. :~) after volleyball, a group came in to play soccer....mr. sports stayed for that too and had a blast....but when he came home he was sore in a major way. three sports in one day!
saturday night was spent getting food ready for easter dinner. this is the first easter dinner i've been home to cook (we've been in florida for many of our easters). i created quite a feast: honey glazed ham, cheesy potatoes, meatballs, green beans, fries, mac and cheese, rolls and strawberry pie. as much as i love having our big family dinners, this one was really nice. just me and my boys. after we ate lunch we dyed some easter eggs. connor did....okay. he only cracked two. and they still looked great. but the highlight of connor's easter was singing. he LOVES singing. he loves listening to music. gramma tally got him a book that plays "Jesus loves me" for christmas....he plays it ALL the time. in his new sunday school class they sing "Jesus loves me" so he is hearing it more and more. lately, he's been picking up his book, pushing the button and singing, "Jesus, Jesus". he also loves to sing the b-i-b-l-e... well, he likes to laugh while i sing it and then shout BIBLE! when i'm finished.
i was so thankful that i got to go to the easter service....what a blessing it was! the songs were some of my all time faves and it was so worshipful. i was reminded of just how blessed i am. it's amazing to think of all Christ accomplished, of all He put up with, of all He overcame for our benefit.... but more for God's glory. i was sitting in the service imagining the scene of His resurrection....wow! i wish i could see that scene. He deserves so much praise and we can never give Him enough. it's easy to imagine why we will fall on our faces before Him. we can only praise Him. He is SO good.
i hope your easter was a great time of rejoicing in the HOPE that is ours because of HIS victory over death.

yeah, do another one dad.
*ok, i've been wanting to tell this for a long time, but it's so stupid i didn't want too. now that my mugs are in the shot i finally have a reason! :~) a few weeks ago i was watching gilmore and rory was pouring a cup of coffee. i had to take a double take on the mug b/c SHE HAS MY DISHES!!! yep, these are the same dishes they use on the set of gilmore girls at rory and logan's appartment. and no, i'm not cool with the fact that they live together, but what do you expect of pagans? ducks quack, right? still, those are MY dishes! which i got at great lakes crossing a long time ago for a super cheap price which makes the story so much more enjoyable. i thought it might have been a fluke, but the next week i saw a plate and i yelled for nathan. he just laughed at me, but i was loving it.
