are all fish named nemo?

if you ask connor he's gonna tell you "yeah!" recently we've adopted a short term pet. we are watching "fishy"....yes, that's his given name. of course, when i introduced my son to this fish he automatically renamed him "nemo". apparently, fishy just didn't suit him. so every morning we say good morning to nemo in fish-ese....which, as you know, involves dropping your jaw quickly to make that cute little bubble noise with a wide open mouth.

on to my latest thing.... i am loving agatha christie books! when i was younger, my mom had a very nice collectors set of agatha christie books. i always wanted to read them, but with my busy high school schedule and getting lost in the language i never got around to it. well, my sister recently told me that she was reading the same set and couldn't put them down. so i asked for a few of them for christmas and finally got around to reading them. i love it! right now, i'm reading "the mysterious affair at styles" and i'm totally sucked into it. i can't wait to read every night after i put the little man to bed. of course, my annoyingly obtuse little mind still gets lost with some of the words, so i have to read with a dictionary on hand. i learned that little tip from gramma tally. she always looks up definitions and writes them down in the book so she won't forget. works like a charm. i've got bunches and bunches of footnotes written in at the bottom of pages with archaic words. nathan cracks up every time i grab the dictionary b/c i usually sigh in frustration that i'm stuck on yet another word.
so sunday afternoon, i'm reading along and one sentence ends on page 61 and then next thing i know half a sentence finishes on page 35. sound confusing??? i thought at first that i had just skipped a sentence or two....which i'm prone to do. then i realized the book was bound incorrectly and i'm missing two pages! stink it all. i'm sure i missed out on some key piece of evidence to the mystery, but i couldn't take the book back to the store b/c of my vocabulary issues and having already defaced the book by writing definitions in it. so i just skipped ahead and hoped i didn't miss too much. what a freak occurence, huh?

ok, so here's a super funny deal that happened sunday morning....
nathan was upstairs ironing which isn't unusual for a sunday morning. then i ran up with the little man's shirt to fix the collar....something smelled weird, but i couldn't figure it out. i ironed his shirt and my dress still perplexed by this smell. i didn't have time to play detective so i just unplugged the thing and went to church. of course, i forgot about it and went about my day....until that night. i was getting ready for bed and looking for my water bottle that i knew was sitting on my night stand...at least i thought it was. i looked all over for that bottle. then things started to click. i looked at the ironing board....sure enough. so i asked nathan if he had taken my water bottle to fill the iron that morning. he said yes with his "i'm caught" laugh. then i told him i knew what the smell was that morning. he didn't know this, but i had put a berry propel pack into my water bottle to flavor the water. he had accidentally put propel into our iron. we were cracking up. so if you talked with us on sunday and thought we smelled fruity...now you know why. :~)

these are from connor's favorite reading spot. when he's not using it to climb up on the couch, his name stool sits here in this secluded little spot of his room. he loves to plop down and read after bath time.
