would anymore illnesses like to visit?

poor little man was sick again last week. just a short-lived virus, but pukey-fevery-just-plain-don't-feel-good isn't connor's style at all. he's a man on the move. he never likes being sick, but he has handled it well...i think. he's getting old enough to know that he doesn't like how "sick" feels. thursday night he felt super warm so i took his temp...not too high but i thought i'd just give him something to help it go down enough to sleep well. and he did sleep just fine... praise the Lord! i was prepared though. when i know he's not been well, i just get my mind set that i'll be waking up in the night and i look at the tv guide to see what's on nick-at-nite around 4:30a. when he was a brand new newborn, he was on a great schedule. he'd wake up during murphy brown and who's the boss....then he switched to rosanne and i was just plain ticked. but that's beside the point.... he slept fine this weekend.

i could tell when the ibuprophen was taking effect. he would be snuggling on my lap just sitting and watching tv with me, and then all of a sudden he would sit up and ask to get down. then he was off and running, chasing his soccer ball, football, golf ball....whatever he could find. then it would wear off and he would grab his 'night night' and come crawl back up in my lap.

we used and abused my parents for babysitting saturday. we wanted to get out of the sick house and go see a movie. we actually got a movie pass for christmas and we FINALLY used it. it was for the price of two adult passes. so we figured we would just pay for snacks. well, it turns out looking like i'm still 16 will be a perk for a little while longer. even though we were both standing there wearing out wedding rings and looking mildly grown up....we still got the STUDENT RATE!!! unreal! the guy just gave it to us. hahahah sucka!! so popcorn and a slush were on him too! we had enough left over to pay for all but $6 of way too much junk food. it was great. i couldn't believe it when we walked away from the counter and nathan said, "that guy just gave us the student rate!" this was one time i enjoyed looking younger.

people have always thought i was way younger than i actually am. one summer we were up at the cabin and i took a couple cousins to the store to get some smoke bombs. one of the boys grabbed them and put them on the counter and she kindly said, "oh, sweetie, i can't sell these to you without your mom or dad." so i came over from around the display and said, "oh, yeah, that's why i'm here. i'm with him." the lady looked up curiously, "you're over 18, right?" dejected by this recent set back, i told her i was 24, paid and left. my family mocked me incesantly upon my return to the campfire.

once at sam's my mom and i got to chatting with a lady at the photo machine. during the course of the conversation she asked what high school i went to........ ugh. i was pregnant with connor at the time. she (as with most people i encounter this way) told me i would appreciate it when i was 40. i can see the benefit, but i do not yet appreciate it. the cheap movie tickets i appreciate.

since i teach sunday school, nathan stayed home with connor so i could go to church. HE CLEANED!!!!!!!! and i'm not just talking straightened up....he did spring cleaning on our entire bedroom. our poor bedroom gets no love. it's upstairs and there's nothing else up there, so my focus when i clean is usually the main floor. then of course, things happen and the bed barely gets made before we crawl back in it. so deep cleaning is usually not done all the time.... yeah, i said it. i'm not a pefect housewife and i've come to grips with that reality. some days are really good and i feel like i get so much accomplished. and some days i'm the just-get-it-neat-and-try-to-get-a-shower-before-noon kind of girl. well, this was a major help! i HATE spring cleaning the bedroom b/c i know how bad the winter makes it. now all i have to do is clean my windows and wipe out the cabinets.

so here are some sick boy snuggling with daddy pics. have a great day, and if you live in michigan.....don't put away your mittens yet.....the end of this week should be nice and frigid for ya! and i don't want to hear any gloating from those migrants that went to florida! i'll pound you for that!

connor likes to do what we call "squish face". basically, he just squishes his face against yours...hence the name. i guess it's his manly version of kisses.

but when you're sick, daddy kisses are always nice.

sweet hat, dad.

i don't get it much anymore-but i used to have the same problem with the age factor. shortly after dave and i were married-i was offered the child's menu when we went out to dinner with his family. they didn't let me forget that for a very long time!

As many times as you get to go to Florida, you better believe that I am going to gloat! I am going to Florida on Friday! I had to go buy a maternity bathing suit last night . . . yikes.

Hope Connor is feeling better soon! I'm thanking God that we've only had 2 illnesses run through our house this past winter. Now we're dealing with allergies though. Looks like Chloe's inherited that from her daddy!

Awesome that you got into the movie for the student rate! What's your secret to looking so youthful? (please don't say mary kay . . . ) What flick did you see?

thanks... he's already back to normal. he bounces back so quickly, as so many children do. allergies, huh? thankfully, that isn't in the gene pool. now, youthful faces combined with short-ish stature.....now THAT'S in the gene pool. it's definitely NOT mary kay. :) we saw wild hogs. i thought it was funny.

Wow. I am incredibly impressed with your cleaning husband. I'm afraid I'll just have to wait until Luke gets older and hope that his enjoyment of cleaning with me sticks around.

How's the little man feeling this week? Luke still isn't sleeping good at night. Maybe this cold spell will give him some allergy relief, if that's what the problem is. I guess I can just be thankful that Fresh Prince is on Nick when I'm up with him. Did you know that I know the whole opening song? Yes. I know a rap. And no, it doesn't sound like Mac Lynch either. ("Step on up to the microphone . . .") Ha! There's a blast from the past for ya!

I know you think you look young and everyone is impressed but I have to say that if i put money on it, I would bet Nathan opened his wallet to some sort of ID that looked studenty. unintentionally of curse =) maybe because you and I have been around eachother so long, but you don't look so young to me. You better not give me a hard time about this mockery of your youth because I am the movie pass 'giver'
