a day out

connor and i had a delightful morning out. nathan had a chiropractor appt. this morning so he was going to head in to work a little later than usual. we got up and had a nice brefix and started the day off normally. then nathan left for his appt. and the little man and i got ready for the day. well, i really wanted to run a few errands so i sent nathan a text asking if he'd left the doc's yet. thankfully, he was just getting into the car so he called me back. he said it would be fine for us to drive him to work, so i frantically started packing ace a diaper bag and finding all my left over gift cards and coupons---i'm frugal to the core! :) we got everything together and finally headed out. since i was just heading up to southland, nathan suggested we meet him for lunch after we were done running around. sounded great to us!

we were finished with our mall run way early, so i thought we would drive out to my parents and drop in on my dad--he works a four day work week....lucky punk. so i call him and ask if he's still home. "nope, i'm pulling into borders right now."
"borders at the mall?" *ok, first of all....what is my dad doing at the mall?? he shops at cabella's and gander mountain. *
"yeah, where are you?"
"i'm at telegraph and west." (we literally had just passed each other).
"well, i don't have time to make it home, i'm getting pizza for your mom's class."
*now it was a challenge. could i make it to borders before he left? just call me mario.*

we pulled in and spotted his head through the cars. ah HA! we made it!! so of course, grampa had to have some little man time. we went back into borders and grabbed a coffee and walked over to the fountain. it was quite a delightful morning. and beautiful!!! the sun is out and it's got to be 20 degrees out there! heat wave!!

after that it was time to go get lunch and meet daddy. here's a helpful tip: don't hit the taco bell drive thru on a friday afternoon. i think i waited 15-20 minutes. the place was packed, and there was no getting out. to be honest, i'm not sure what took so long. i've seen how they assemble tacos in that joint. it's pretty straightforward. a little meat, lettuce, cheese and wrap. what's that? you wanted supreme? sure....just a little squirt of sour cream....whoops! that's a little much, isn't it? oh, well. just wrap it and throw it out the window.

after lunch we headed to the post office. yes, ladies. keith was there!!! and in quite a jovial mood i might add. must have been the sun. i was attempting to package another great ebay sale, and connor was attempting to escape. i had him corralled under the tall table they have for writing, but he's pretty quick when my hands are trying to do three other things. when we finally got everything ready and made our way to the counter, connor was getting a little whiney. to my shock keith says, "yeah, that's how i feel about being here too, buddy." gasp! then he goes on, "especially when the sun's out like this." double gasp!! i think he was even thrown by his response b/c he asked me twice if there was anything perishable, explosive, or fragile in my box. then he says bye to connor and of course, connor just stares at him. the good-natured banter continued! keith said, "he doesn't want to talk to THAT guy..." i nearly fell over. so although reticent and solemn, the k-man has an amiable side.

and now here we are.....connor is singing at the top of his lungs and doesn't seem to be ready for a nap. what's up with that??? i leave you with a video from the other night. daddy and ace were gearing up for the golf season.

We have really enjoyed our "video" of Ace daily!! It's so neat to see and hear him. Would love to hear him "singing" too. But thanks so much for keeping us a part of your everyday.

He seems to be quite a self-cheerleader with all his "yays". :) Very cute. Sounds like you had an exciting day! I love those kind of days to get out of the house and enjoy the sun.
