....i'm dreaming of a white christmas.....

i feel like a small child this morning. it's 6:30 am and i'm up and ready to go.....figuratively speaking--what...did you think i was showered and made up already? get real! nathan and connor are already on their way downtown to the race. i am still excited from last night. it was AMAZING! the fox lived up to my best memories, and the show definitely didn't disappoint.

i wish hollywood would produce something like "white christmas" again. it's fun, whimsical, light-hearted, and just good clean fun. they used to turn to gene kelly, fred astaire, ginger rogers, and others to wow audiences. now THEY could dance! it always looked like they were floating on air. they could glide onto any stage and turn it into a fluffy cloud of happiness. now hollywood turns to naked people and huge explosions. that just doesn't entertain me!

well, last night i was entertained. the music was fabulous, the actors were stunning, and the fox was phenominal. the costumes were great; they took you back to a simpler time. flowy skirts, dazzling sparkles, hair that didn't move during dance twirls....the works. the guys were dressed to kill too. when they introduced bob and phil as an act for the first time, they looked like watermelons. bright green suits, pants, shoes, and pink ties......it was great!

by far, my favorite scene was the "i love a piano" number. it was a show stopper! the whole ensemble danced. the choreography was excellent. really great for a stage show. after growing up on a steady diet of dazzling dance numbers that could only be produced with the magic of cameras, i was concerned that i would be disappointed with what they could do on a stage. but it was dazzling in it's own way. and phil and judy were definitely my faves....same as the movie. they were quite good. i'd definitely say they are the closest thing to me ever seeing a dancer as good as vera-ellen live. the lady that played judy was excellent...and she made phil look good. the people that played bob and betty are actually husband and wife....very cute.

now, if you've ever been to a play, you know that it's pretty hard to see faces clearly. so i always just imagine they are the person they look most like to me. well, this proved problematic last night. the guy that played bob reminded me of kevin priest. i couldn't imagine kevin dancing and singing and it was quite distracting at first. i was really struggling to get another person in his place. for about twenty minutes i was thinking and thinking...finally, i just settled on nicholas cage. it wasn't a great substitute, but it definitely worked. if you're curious....phil was a combo of high school friends, betty was marcia cross, judy was vera-ellen (she was pretty good to get a vera-ellen connection from me), general waverly was ed harris, martha (the housekeeper) was a combo of old actresses, and susan (the grandaughter) was the little girl that played on er as dr. green's daughter. she was very good.

it was a great night. we were thinking about getting coffee afterward....but as soon as we got in the car we both said, "i'm tired". so we just laughed and went home.

it was very weird going to bed without checking on connor. i'm sure he had a blast though. and i had a very restful night.
