i am by no means a shopper. i used to dread christmas shopping b/c all it meant to me was pushing your way through an overpacked store, while holding your huge winter coat and five bags full of presents, all the time trying not to scream at the lady digging for her $2 coupon while you feel like the whole store is spinning around you as you overheat in a major way. whew! just thinking of it makes me sick. but that was before.....
......now that i'm home all day, i start my christmas shopping before halloween. i casually start going to the mall more frequently, glancing through the new winter arrivals, and pick out just the right gifts. at least i think so. this year has been great. well, for whatever reason we decided to run up to our local shopping strip this afternoon. i never really go out on this day b/c it is pure mayhem. pushing, shoving, crying...and that's just the women!......but i figured since we were only looking for a few gifts, no big deal.
we went to bed bath and beyond, which wasn't bad. it was busy but nothing that would make me hyperventilate. barnes and noble was equally delightful. target was expectedly a zoo. but we only had to get one thing for nathan. then we walked back down to old navy. the line was forever long and i debated if i even wanted to go back to the baby boys. but i had a $10 coupon, so i had to go check. we found connor a hat, christmas socks and a nice church shirt. with my coupon it would be about $8. i looked for more socks.....nothing. i checked out more hats b/c they were on sale 2/$5. but none of the other hats would really match connor's coat and quite frankly i'm not a huge fan of fleece. so i decided to just skip it and head for the line.
it moved fairly fast which surprised and pleased me. but then.......the lady scanned my items and took my coupon. then, true to old navy form, she asked if i knew the hats were 2/$5. i said, yes, i just didn't want another one. that little vulture wouldn't drop it. NO MEANS NO LADY!
"are you sure?"
"yes. i really don't want another one." (i really was trying to be pleasant at that point)
really? b/c you'd basically be getting one free."
"no, thank you." (stern, but still civil)
"are you sure, b/c......."
*this time i gave her "the teacher stare" and said, "i'm NOT going back to get another one."
for the love!!
so i told her to have a lovely day and went out to meet nathan and the little man.
i'm so glad i only have two more gifts to get. this time of year it is not good for me to be out in the malls. i just may strike someone.
viva online shopping!!
