arthur enters the kitchen to find doug carving a jack-o-lantern.
"what is THAT??"
"a pumpkin."
"there's to be no halloween in this house. do you understand me? halloween is forbidden! FORBIDDEN!!"
arthur smashes the pumpkin all over the backyard. then enters to find a bag of candy on the table.
"fun size kit kat??? FORBIDDEN!!"
last night, of course, was trick-or-treat night. connor and i had an early dinner, got dressed up and headed out to the grandparents. three stops in all, but by the end i had one pooped out panda.
after it took me 15 minutes to drive 3 blocks (i am a freak about driving slow on halloween) our first stop was gramma and papa's. gramma was handing out chips and tracts, which is a gramma classic. connor isn't too into chips, but he sure perked up when gramma pulled out the jello! he gave them his "i'm so cute...love me, love me.." face. a picture and a cheese puff and then it was off to see gramma sanders.
when we got there connor was again being sheepish (i am convinced he was on to the whole "treat" idea at this point and he was just wearing us like a sombrero). gramma pulled out the fun size candy and connor sort of warmed up. but it was when she gave him a gramma cookie that he really started the show. he chowed the cookie and after leaving a trail of crumbs, crawled around to give everyone the "i'm so cute, love me, love me" face. i tried to get a picture with connor sitting on gramma's lap, but he wouldn't sit still and gramma just hurt her arm trying to put a big pile of dishes away. (she thinks she's wonder woman. always climbing up on her skinny little step stool to clean the curtains and put big heavy things away. i told her to make a "joshua's job box". then all she has to do is put a little note in the box and it's josh's job to get it done....sounds good right? joshua, why don't you get on that, k?) well, he wanted to climb on the couch so i got a pic of him standing next to gramma. very cute.
after gramma filled my purse to the brim with goodies and cookies we headed out to my parents. on the way i got a prank call from derek who had gotten a hold of uncle mitchell's cell. couple words for ya boys, caller id. although i will say, when i didn't hear uncle mitch's voice....they had me going for a second. until they asked for "seymore". i'll let you draw your own conclusion for that conversation. b/c i'm sure if you know any teen/pre-teen boys you'll know the end.
we hung out for a while at their house. i knew mike, nic, and ava were on their way so we stayed to see them. then we got an extra treat. uncle bob stopped by to say hey. great to see him.
then it was home to bed. i had connor's pj's on under his costume which was a very good idea. when we got home he was out cold and barely even woke up when i brought him in the house.
and so our halloween ended with fun times had by all.

mmmmm.....gramma sanders cookies

the pranksters derek and austin in pistons jerseys, hope as mulan, collin as stitch, the famous panda and my mom as the happy gramma that saw a total of 10 trick-or-treaters (five shown here :)

Very cute pictures. Man, I haven't heard the "Seymore" joke since we were in 9th or 10th grade and the Chris Moore-David Griffiths team kept it going forever.
