a delightful day

boy what a jam packed day and i am whipped. not as whipped as nathan though.....4:00am wake up call and then straight to work. but we did have an eventful day and it was way better than our driving expedition yesterday.

i babysat this am for a short morning, then connor and i were off to sams. on the way we stopped at gramma sanders. and it was perfect timing. gramma was making cookies for the macp preachers and we got to lick the spoon and take home some of the first batch. connor LOVES gramma's cookies. i was sampling one and he chowed half of it before i could get it back. little booger.

we hit sams fast. diapers were running low in a big way and i also picked up some chicken. then it was off to meijers to get some salad fixin's. i have been craving that salad nic made the other night. romaine, mandarin oranges, rasberry balsamic vinagrette, and dried cranberries. mmmmmm, delish! and i sprung for emeril's dressing so it was extra delightful. that stuff goes a long way too, so i didn't mind paying that much. i had to grab just a few quick things. so meijers was fast too, but i could tell connor was losing speed in a big way. we grabbed a quick lunch from arby's....thanks gramma!...and headed home. my little man was so tired he didn't even finish his lunch. i got the yard raked while connor slept. he slept for almost three hours and was still going strong. i knew i had to get some yard bags to finish out front so i decided to wake him up and head to lowe's.

well, i had the bright idea to go get some christmas gifts while i was out. i hit target and only priced a gift, then bed bath and beyond to get my 20% off gift, then barnes and noble to get myself a treat. that's where i was jolted to a screeching halt by mainstream media.

i like to watch fox & friends morning news show. they are a crack up and really make the news interesting. (i've already expounded on my distaste for the today show and other morning blah). well, one of the co-hosts, steve doocy, has written a new book "the mr. and mrs. happy handbook". it's supposed to be pretty funny, and being a comedy aficionado i wanted to pick it up. last year nathan got me another co-host's book (e.d. hill--going places--also a good read).

so i head into barnes and noble thinking (in retrospect, foolishly) that it would be in the front of the store with the new releases. hmmm....that's curious...maybe in relationships or self help? comedy? anywhere??? i inquired about my desired read and the saleswoman looked puzzled.
"it's called the mr. and mrs. happy handbook...the author is steve doocy."

"hmm....i've never heard of it...let me check the computer.....no, i'm sorry we don't have any copies here."

what? no copies?? none? we're near a major metropolis and you have no copies?? this is amazing. i'm shocked. dr. phil has half a bookshelf designated for him and his wife and there's not even five inches for a few copies of steve's book???

so i wrote steve an email detailing the "doocy disaster". i'm hoping for an autographed copy. don't worry i'm not holding my breath.

so, dejected and squashed by the choke hold of mainstream media, i came home to finish bagging my leaves. connor was being cute so i snapped a few shots. ah...a ray of sunshine.
