so how long have you lived in michigan???

today just wasn't my day. connor and i were going to meet nathan for lunch since his show is at laurel manor. i have been there before (only once for my uncle mitchell and aunt tina's wedding reception...so it's not like i was driving out there all the time). but i've passed it on the way to and from novi bunches of times. nathan told me it was easy to get to ..... which is true.....so i didn't bother to write down the exact directions. big mistake. i started out fine. i hit target to get nathan some toothpaste and hair gel, then i jumped on southfield--94--275--96.....that's where things got hairy. nathan told me it was the first exit once i merged onto 96. newburgh road, do a michigan left, follow the s curve, you can't miss it. so i am in the right lane on 96--visibility is about 25 yards b/c the spray from cars was so bad it was fog-like--ok here comes the first exit.....6 mile??? maybe he just overlooked one.....7 mile???? 8 mile????? for the love....what is going on!?!?!? i hit novi and knew i was way past laurel manor, so i called nathan. he's whispering b/c he's in the middle of a graphics change and has to be quiet, so i can hardly hear him. i told him i never saw newburgh and he goes, "you went the wrong way on 96." well, i had pretty much figured that out. so i back track. 96 east this time. finally i get to newburgh. so here's my thought process:
"well, i was supposed to do a michigan left, so instead this time i should just go straight." yeah, i know, i'm an idiot. that thought would have made sense if i had passed my exit and turned around, but i had gone the wrong way in the first place. a few miles down the road i realize this and have to find a place to turn around. now, this is michigan so ,of course, you have to find a "michigan left" place that opens in the median. there were NONE! ugh!!!!! lucky for me connor was out cold. so i finally find an opening and turn around, back track all that way until i get back to where i got off the freeway and it's right stinkin' there.
so we went in and had a nice lunch together. met a few people nathan works with and i think we ate in the room where my aunt & uncle had their reception. i remember the little balcony. course, in a place like that they might all have balconies...it's really a nice joint. and the food was reception quality. we had to eat fast b/c nathan was going to give instructions for a test that they give...something for dealerships or car people.... i don't know, he just proctors it. so b/c of that we missed out on the chocolate mousse....very disappointing. but it was great to see him. he'll get home later tonight and then it's off to chi-town at 4:30 am!! yowza.....i think i'll call you a cab, babe. joking....kevin's dad is taking them.
so then connor and i had the daunting task of getting back home. i didn't want 96 east b/c then i'd have to go home southfield and there's construction. i wanted to hit 96 west then jump back on 275--94--home.....oh, how i wished to be home! i did the first turn around and followed a sign for 96 west....the ramp was closed. aw, nuts! so i did another michigan louie and thought, "i'll just go a bit further and hit the next ramp." well, that proved more difficult that i would have imagined. i turned around in three driveways, missed three correct turns and i almost turned on a "no turns" intersection b/c i was so frustrated. finally, i gave up on my dream of getting home. i am currently living under the viaduct with a family of gypsies. i'll send for my things.

i gave up on my 96-275-94 idea and just took southfield. no, i'm not living under the viaduct with gypsies! but it crossed my mind.

s
since connor was such a good boy and since he hardly had time to eat, i stopped at mickey d's to get him some nuggets.....and i thought, "to ease the pain of this day i'll get a pumpkin pie." that should do it! :) and from the speaker i heard, "i'm sorry ma'am, we don't have any pies."

squash.

did you hear that....it was my happiness bubble. oh, well. we're home, connor chowed the nuggets and now he's out cold. tonight we'll hang out with daddy and all will be well.

look everybody! i'm a taco!!

look who found the box from daddy's new shoes. the shoes were wrapped nicely in tissue paper. not anymore.

the other day, while i was babysitting, connor wanted to do EVERYTHING the girls were doing. he didn't try to eat the crayons this time...that's progress.

here are some cutie shots i didn't get up last night.

i love this one.
