thanks to my kohls super sale knower aunt tina, i found out that my shelves might be on extra sale. so i was going to do the old "buy new ones and return them for the old price". sadly, when i got there they were 50% off. which was the same price i got them for earlier...only it was buy one get one and they just happened to be the same price....6 of one, half dozen.............BUT....lucky for me they had boys long sleeves for 5 buckaroos. and a fabulous jewelry selection on clearance. i loaded up big time. so, i sort of defeated the purpose of going out there. yes, i am aware.
yesterday, was big time run around town day. first stop, cvs to unload my super full sd card. took 3 cd's to empty that baby. yowza. then to sams where milk was a delightful $1.79....that just warms the heart, ya know? and i grabbed connor some more pj's. carter's footies, super soft for only $8. not bad. but i'll say this......what's the deal with dinosaurs? the only ones they had left in his size were full of dino's. now, i'm obviously not completely opposed to dino's b/c i bought them. but, it may be slightly obvious that i'm not a HUGE fan of cartoony animals plastered on all of connor's clothes. i know it's just me, b/c they really are cute on occasion. for instance, gramma sanders got connor some really cute sweats for his birthday. one had a dino playing basketball on it. it's really cute. probably b/c the dino isn't huge and printed on every square inch. and i'm not just saying this b/c it's from gramma. there's no shame in my game. if i don't like something i exchange it. gramma and i both agree with that rule. come to think of it....i don't know that i've ever exchanged clothes from my family. they are just as picky as me when they buy things......well, that works too. anyway.....after sams we hit meijers to get some veggies. let me tell ya, two weeks worth of food looks a lot different when i'm flying solo. and it's much cheaper. (sorry babe, but it's true.....boys eat way more:)
after a long day it was naps all around. then nicole called and asked if i wanted to come over for dinner at their house. i said i would come if i could bring dessert. i was pumped. i was going to have an excuse to go get a pumpkin pie!! YES! i've been wanting one for a while....and i don't want to bring a whole pie into my house right now....that's just a recipe for disaster. so i said, "do you guys like pumpkin?" waiting for what should have been an obvious "yeah". i almost died when i heard, "not really." WHAT???? you don't like pumpkin pie?? what are you? communists?? are you serious? it's fall.....changing leaves, hay rides, apple cider, pilgrims, PUMPKINS FOR THE LOVE! fine, i'll get apple. blech!
so i ran up to krogers and got some ice cream, cool whip, and headed to the bakery. they had so many delish looking pumpkin pies. and only two apple....hidden under the peach and berry pies, where they belong! i couldn't stop myself. i got both. the apple just looked so blah. but nic said it tasted good.
dinner was delightful. nicole made an "aunt claudia worthy" salad. then the kids were playing upstairs while we had pie and coffee and mike was tinkering around in the garage. that was after he loaded the dishwasher. we discussed his abmormal behavior. it's almost like he thinks if he's not doing something his head might explode. right before i left, he got out the dustbuster to get a few stray dog hairs. he did sit down and have some pie and coffee though. mike, it's not a bad thing, i'm just not used to boys doing so much. it can be unsettling.
then this morning, connor woke up with even more of a cough than the past few days and he was wheezing a little. i called the doc to get some tips and the nurse said, just bring him in. i was quite apologetic at first. i blamed my concern on being a first time mom. but the doc (sadly, not doc beaman, but a very nice doc anyway) said, "this is like a fourth baby reaction...don't worry. it would be more first baby-ish if you came after three days.....it's been a couple weeks and this things not getting better. we'll put him on an antibiotic." WHEW! i guess watching all those cousins grow up, and a "get tough or get out" family motto really paid off.
so tonight it's gilmore!! i'm considering letting connor stay up for the opening song. it's tradition. but then straight to bed. i caught him playing with my purse again yesterday.....what to do, what to do?
here is a "hi dad" picture.....he really was saying "hi dad" when i took it, babe! too cute.

he was saying, "hi dad"...but it looks a little more like "what do i have to do to get you into this '85 volvo today?"

You are really getting good at this "blogging book". I seriously think there is a future here. Connor looks so cute and has that great smile. You're a good mommy, you do a great job taking care of your boys!! Love ya!
you guys are really eggin' me on with this whole book idea! :)
and could you tell that i used our pic of you guys holding connor at the jetty for our "water wall"? it looks great! i love those pics of you guys!
wow when i read this i couldn't help but think Mike and Hal must have some genetic relationship down the line. I have often told Hal I need to teach him how to be lazy now and again...like me. :-) I dont mind sitting with coffee and pie AND if you want pumpkin bring it over and we will make ourselves an ENTIRE pot of coffee and take our time with it. :-)
Nice shoes Connor! Maybe one day I'll get you a real pair.
Long & wordy - your stories are too good to seem long.
Glad you're enjoying your freedom as you are out and about. I'm sure that helps your days to go by quickly. I do the same thing when Geoff's away.
Your sis is crazy to not like pumpkin pie! Have you tried the no-bake layered pumpkin pie in a graham cracker crust? Yum! One of our favorites!
Hey, my doorbell rang...I thought for sure it was gonna be you standing there with some pumpkin pie. I was ready to race to the coffee pot and start her up. But NO it was just some scrawny little chinese man and THE NERVE he didn't even have 'take out' for me. Sheesh (to use one of your words) whats a girl gotta do to get some good delivery food around here. :)
