love those little lips

i love my kids' lips. meg has movie star lips. they are perfect. she could be a lipstick model. connor has the most unique way of curling up his lips. it's honestly the cutest thing i've ever seen. when he was a bit younger... or as he would put it, "in the olden days".... he couldn't say french fries. he would curl his little lips up and say, "schrench shries". it was like he was making fish lips with every syllable.

his lips are nearly an exact replica of my father-in-law's. not that i'm calling my f-i-l's lips "cute" per se. but connor's facial expressions mimic his in so many ways. the boy has MANY hairgrove-isms to say the least. i do love the way connor's lips seem to work extra hard to form JUST the right sound.... which ends up coming out as a lisp no matter how hard he tries. he enunciates very particularly. it's just those pesky 's' sounds..... and i love it.

i love how meggie's vocabulary has exploded. she is quite a little chatter box now. some of my most recents faves have been:
(when she drops something accidentally or on purpose for a laugh) oop! shaa-eeee!
(when i get her out of bed in the morning) go! (which simply means... mother, i'd like to exit this room please.)
(when ANY little thing happens to ANY part of her) owwww!! mom, ow! hurt. hurt. (drama, drama, drama)
(when i'm busy doing any task she pats me on the arm, leg, face, whatever she can reach) mom. mom. mom. mom. mom. mom. --what, megs?----- um.... um... mom... hi. (literally, that's how it goes EVERY time)
(when we're singing before bed if i am singing the wrong song she pats my lips as if to stop me) mom... mom... mom.... key-us. key-us. (zaccheus)
she tries to copy everything connor says... and everything connor does. if connor's driving trucks, meg's driving trucks. if connor's playing hoops, meg's playing hoops. if connor's playing hockey, meg's playing hockey. she absolutely adores that boy...... unless he takes her snack. then it's war.

oh, and here's a gem that connor whipped out yesterday when we were walking in from church....
connor: mom, what's on your legs?
me: you mean my tights?
connor: yeah. why don't you wear "eye-lons" like tally?
me: well, the reason i don't wear NYlons is b/c i don't like them. but i like tights b/c they keep my legs toasty warm.
connor: well, tally wears "eye-lons". you should wear those too.
me: bud, i really don't think you get a say in that.
connor: yeah. that's right. boys shouldn't "a-skush" that stuff. that's not a "a-skushion" boys have, right? boys don't "a-skush" "eye-lons".
me: (clearly unable to speak b/c i don't want to correct him while laughing hysterically.)

later that night we were getting pj's on and he said, "mom, when will i get hair in my armpits like dad?"

making signs to watch daniel's game online.

the high five sign.... he was signing his name so daniel would know it was from him.

reading before bed.... the only way i can get these energy puffs to settle down.

painting a masterpiece for momma jo-g

painting a masterpiece ... and licking her paintbrush.

Love them. I love that meg is talking so much but I am pretty sad that i haven't witnessed as much of it.
