connor moments

normal people have a magnetic pad of paper on their fridge and jot down things they need to pick up from the store. i have a pad of paper on my fridge and jot down things that make me stop in my tracks and tilt my head sideways thinking, "did that just come out of my kid's mouth??" so here are some recent gems from the little man.

~~~~~~~~~~
he was sitting down to eat dinner, casually reminding me just how good he was doing at eating on this particular evening. then all of a sudden he looked down at his plate and said, "oh, gracious! i would be fat if i had a lot of food, huh?" he stopped eating for about a minute and then he looked down at his plate realizing that his beloved jelly sandwich was gone. five seconds later, "mom, i'm still and still hungry!"
~~~~~~~~~~

i asked connor what he wanted for brefix. he told me "nothing." i wasn't sure exactly where this was going so i asked if he was SURE that he didn't want anything..... "nothing.... i just want chocolate milk. well, basically, i don't want eggs."

~~~~~~~~~~
connor was in trouble for something (i honestly don't remember what it was) and he was getting a lecture from nathan. when nathan confronted him about the wrong, connor dropped his head and shaking it said, "what have i DONE??"
~~~~~~~~~~

he loves rhyming and he's discovering more and more rhymes daily. the other day i was telling him to pick up a few things.

"connor, pick up your crocs and your socks and put them away, please."

i could tell he was itching to find a funny way to say it, and he came up with, "ok... crocs... socks.... hickory dickory dock!"

the look on his face was one of pure joy for the rhyme and probably for the speed at which he came up with it.

~~~~~~~~~~
he is constantly saying, "mom, i'm still and still HUNGRY." i think he expects me to be surprised by this revelation. the other day he takced on, "i'm still and still hungry 'cause nobody feeded me." as if he hasn't eaten enough in his three years.
~~~~~~~~~~

yesterday he said to the little girl i babysit, "can i put my hand around your neck?" to which she promptly replied, "NO." crushed, he explained, "well, i want to b/c you're my friend." what a sweetie.... and at the same time what a little charmer... i am not surprised that i already have to be on high alert. don't worry moms of girls.... we have little chats about appropriate behavior a lot.

~~~~~~~~~~
a few saturdays back we went out to nathan's boss' house to ride the four wheeler and just hang out. we had a great time. one of the things connor really loved was shooting the bb gun. a few days later he was remembering the day, and he said to me, "mom, we got to shoot mr. gary's gun, didn't we?" so i said, "yes, it was a bb gun." i could tell he was thinking this through and then he said, "no, mom. it wasn't bb's gun b/c bb's gun is LOUD and mr. gary's gun is quiiiiiiiiiet. we shot mr. gary's gun." then i realized what he was thinking. he thought i meant bb as in my mom. he didn't know that there was an actual thing called a bb gun.
these are the pictures i forced him to take with his i-saved-my-own-money-to-buy-this watch.
He is so good about posing for the camera! Check out that pose with his hand on his chin - adorable!
I've recently started recording Chloe's funny sayings too. My mom got me a journal to keep handy when the moment arises. My brain is way too fried most days to remember her funny gems.
That "still and still hungry because nobody feeded me" is hilarious! How'd you respond?
alicia- honestly, i think i just laughed. :) but i probably just got him more food after that. if his current eating habits tell me anything of what his teen years will be like.... YIKES! better start stocking up now. :)
