the timing was perfect b/c meg slept on the way there and on the way back. connor slept on the way back... which means there were only 45 minutes of quiet. the rest of the time was him chatting away. well, i have to admit he took breaks to listen to papa.
we took pictures by the bear, we saw the fish, we saw the animals, we climbed over a crowd barrier to reach food for the carp.... well, papa did. and to tell you the truth i thought he was going down. we didn't have a quarter to get fish food, so we were searching the ground for a couple pieces that connor could throw in. we spotted some.... on the other side of the large wooden barrier. i saw some close to the ground and papa found the ones super far away and close to the water. so he climbs up on the bench and OVER the barrier.... for real i thought he was going in, but he grabbed a few abandoned pieces and hopped back over before we could even get kicked out. then we walked around the entire mountain display making up stories for each animal. when we got to the polar bear defending his muskox dinner from wolves, we were asking connor what he thought the bears were doing. we talked about it for a while and right before we walked on connor says, "that guy is saying, 'you better not steal my lunch!!'"
then we stopped at the toys and headed on our way home by way of mickey d's for a quick coke. it was a fun day. here are a few pics of our cabela's adventure. (not in order b/c it takes too long in safari... just imagine they're in order.)
hangin' out with the elephant
climbing up on the bear statue... meg has been making the "ooooooo" face a lot lately. this was pretty much the only face she made for pictures at cabela's.
picking out a toy. papa would give her one to see if she liked it and she would push them all away. i finally picked out one of the calling birds.... better than the princess fishing pole he first picked out.... next year.
i thought this was hilarious. connor did NOT.
papa, this is what i really want! get me a gun!
meg was trying to get a popper gun.... meanwhile....
connor was learning about the moose.... moosen.... moose goes in the woods... in the woodsen.
just checking out the stuff.... or stuffed stuff.
he was quite proud of his athletic ability and balance b/c he could hold himself up to see the fish. if you can see the fish, it's pretty funny. this is the tank on the outer wall. the one that nobody really looks at. these fish were all lined up looking toward the inner wall tank. it was almost like they were looking out hoping that just one person would look their way.
learning about fish
mom, check me out! and who is this other kid???
climbing on the statue
connor loved this.. until it was time to get down. then 'fraidy cat showed up.
still feelin' tough at this point.

Moosen.... It's so good to see others who appreciate the fine humor of Brian Regan. :)
