more of the man... and our weekend of fun

thursday night i had a popcorn night with my little man. which means i ate popcorn and he had goldfish. he doesn't love popcorn b/c he sometimes gags on the kernels, but he calls it popcorn night even if he has another snack. so there we were, enjoying our snacky time and true to form he wanted to see if this batch of popcorn would be acceptable to him. he took a bite and instantly decided it was too full of "yuckies". so he had to run to the trash to spit it out. then he wanted his bear to try some. turns out bear can't handle the kernels either. he had to go to the trash and spit them out. connor gets back from the trash can with bear and props himself up on the couch and says, "man, i had a hard day. how was your day, mom?"

the next day he informed me that his toy computer from mickey d's was no longer a computer. instead he wished it to be called his g-pod. apparently, this is the cousin of the ipod.

we had a pretty busy weekend. fun filled and busy. friday morning i went over to nic's house to attempt baking a white chocolate walnut torte. this was a real adventure b/c i am by no means a baker. it's kind of a detailed cake. but the frosting is WELL worth it. my dad came over and got us lunch from mickey d's. seriously, connor had so many chicken nuggets last week, i'm surprised he didn't start clucking in his sleep. i was totally ashamed of my mothering, but comforted myself with the thought that i couldn't possibly discourage any grandparents and their desire to give my children joy through greasy salty starchy foods and plastic toys that will last 2 weeks.

friday night, nathan's aunt came through on her way to flint. we had a blast laughing with her and eating take out... gotta love not cooking.

saturday was outdoorama. i told connor we were going to outdoorama and he said, "hmmm.... outdoor-a-rama? that sounds like rock obama! but he won't be there, right?"

saturday night was set aside for my mom's birthday party. i don't like to brag about my cooking abilities.... BUT.... that cake was pretty stinkin' good. i give the credit to nicole. she made it look pretty and did most of the work. my dad got her a guitar for her birthday, and i have never seen connor try so hard to play with someone else's gift than he did that night. he was standing so close to my mom while she was trying it out and you could just SEE the desire to play taking over his whole being. he would lunge forward and then stop himself. finally, he got the go ahead and was all over that thing.

we had a great weekend and spent sunday night trying to let megs recoup. she's got the sniffly snuffs again. poor girl has been fighting it on and off all winter. you'd never know it though. she's so happy all day long. even when she gets a horrid night of sleep, she's just happy. i love that about her. i'm beginning to think she's not really mine.

i'll end with pictures, thus ensuring that uncle paul will continue on as part of the readership of this fine blog.

Outdoor-rama sounds like a blast! And if that cake tasted as good as it looked I bet it was the hit of the party. Looks professionally baked to me!

yes, it is fun... crazy packed, but fun. the cake was delightful. i ate with a critical tongue though, so i kept thinking, "oh, you know what would be GREAT on this???" :)

Connor says some funny stuff! That cracked me up when he told you he had a hard day. Where you like, "YOU had a hard day?" :) I kinda felt that way last night when I was giving the boys a bath, and Simon was excited and very loud. Luke said, "I just want some quiet!" I was like, you gotta be kidding me! (If you're not catching on, Luke is not the quietest child God ever blessed a mommy with.)

Also, the cake looked great! Now I want some.
