so, just a moment ago i was sitting on the couch with connor watching daddy dig out the bottom of the driveway. the evil snow plow had just buzzed down our street plastering the lower portion of our driveway with the crud that is super hard to dig out especially once you drive over it. i call it evil b/c it almost always seems to come through right after nathan has painstakingly dug a clean --and even angled--- section of our drive. our neighbors are all very nice people and we have good relationships with all of them. we all do very neighborly things for each other. which has been great for the church members on our street. we've been able to build relationships with these people... yes, there are lots of church members on our street. we live in a very unique community to say the least. anyway.... back to the point of my story....
connor and i were sitting there and nathan started to walk down to miss l's house. her husband passed away last year and we tag team shoveling for her with another friend from church that lives on the other side of her. connor asked why daddy was going to miss l's house. here's the conversation.
me: daddy is going to help miss l with her driveway.
connor: why is he going to work at her house?
me: miss l's husband died last year, so she doesn't have a daddy at her house anymore to help with hard jobs like shoveling.
connor: he died???
me: yes, he's not alive anymore (gearing up for questions like, "where is he?")
connor: who shot him?
me: *unable to control the smirk that quickly changed to a smile that quickly allowed a chuckle out* not everyone that dies is dead b/c they got shot!
connor: haha!
me: *gets a grip and explains that death makes people sad and we shouldn't laugh about it. apologizes for my chuckle and then has a long talk about the ladies on our street that have recently lost their husbands and how it is good for us to help them* whew! barely made it.
and yesterday, i was amazed at genetics and connor's recent affinity for quoting movie lines in every real life scenario. i do this. nathan does this. it's just a funny thing that we find humor in. connor now does this. he's only really truly ever watched one movie the entire way through. the bee movie. he loves it. he now quotes it frequently.
we came in from church and it was blowing snowy cold air. connor gets plopped down on the "take off your shoes rug" and he goes, "wow! that blew my mind!!" loved it.
we were getting things ready to go and he started making a check list like the pollen jocks in the movie before they take off to leave the hive.... "wipes... check! meg's toys... check! extra clothes... check! scared outta my shorts.... check!"
if you've seen the movie you'll appreciate it more. if you like jerry seinfeld and you have kids... i'd say this is a good one to watch. there are lots of funnies that parents will enjoy.
i love this kid. he is always full of funny moments and brings such laughter to my heart.

Love it! gavin quotes that movie a lot too. He will say, "These are WINTER BOOTS!" That is one of our favorite movies.
i think it's hilarious when kids quote movies. even if it doesn't fit the conversation. it still cracks me up. good flick.
We love him too! He's just like his mother when it comes to the dog thing :)
That is hilarious! Just Yesterday we were coming up to a red light where there was a semi already stopped. We pulled up next to the Semi and Noah says "You're Not Mac!!!!" I just rolled and then went on to finish the dialogue.. These boys are hilarious! Praise the Lord they keep us smiling!
aunt tina-- at least he's not as bad as i was when i was his age... sheesh! :) he warms up way faster than i ever would have.... oh, wait... i never did! at least now that i am a mom i have conquered the fear part. still don't like 'em, but i can help my kids if they're scared.
annie-- so true! i love having a boy. so crazy funny.
The kid's a hoot! It's cute, yes, but I already feel sorry for his future wife. If she has not watched all the same movies your family has a million times over than she will feel completely lost during most of the conversation at every family gathering!! Believe me, I speak from experience!!! oh, well. I'll get my revenge on my future daughter-in-laws since Ryan and I now quote our own favorite movies!
funny stuff. before i rent or something do you have the bee movie? just looking to save the four dollars. =)
