an interesting documentary

my sister and bro-in-law mentioned to us that their church rented a theater to view the documentary "expelled: no intelligence allowed".  mike put some info on their blog about it. and you can view the trailer to the movie at this site. 

this is a movie put together by ben stein (bueller? bueller?) it's by no means a "fundamentalist" style documentary, but from the trailer i noticed that it would be an interesting and thought provoking flick. it's all about the idea of intelligent design. in other words..... creationism. the belief that a "higher power" actually created everything as we know it. now, personally i don't know what mr. stein believes in it's entirety, but i gathered from the trailer that he explores the notion that a belief in a Deity has been completely spat upon in the scientific community. he interviews some individuals that apparently lost their jobs b/c of their questions/ideas/beliefs about a Creator God. *typical disclaimers apply... these people might believe a higher power means nothing more than a thinking star or planet. but still, the idea of intelligent design is looked down upon and this movie could be a great spring board for discussion with friends and neighbors with whom you've had these kinds of discussions.

the movie is being screened at the mjr theater in southgate this saturday (10.4.08) at noon.
