weekend getaway

nathan's office is having a staff retreat this weekend. lucky for me and the little man it was a "bring the fam" weekend. so right now, i'm sitting in the dark in a hotel room hooked up to their free wireless internet watching tv with barely any sound.... connor's taking a much needed nap which is why i'm in the dark. this is SWEET! we're at the splash park next to cabela's. i absolutely LOVE staying in hotels. it's so exciting, it's different, you don't have to make your bed.... what could be better?? when connor wakes up we're going to go down to the pool and join the rest of the families and hit the slides.

connor hasn't been in a hotel room for a long while, so i wondered how he would do for naps. so far so good. i basically just put him in his bed and said goodnight. he stood there saying, "goodnight, mommy." for about 10 minutes. then he would lay down and talk to his buddies (he has about 6 stuffed animals that he loves to sleep with---i'll try and get a pic later it's too funny). after he told them all goodnight, he'd pop back up and say goodnight to me again. i tried to just lay still on my bed and ignore him...to my amazement it worked. he was out cold in about 20 minutes. what a good boy.... with the occasional heathen tendencies, of course.

we walked in to find a basket of goodies on our bed. a coloring book and some toys for connor, some munchies, candy and gum....very cool and totally thoughtful of nathan's boss and his wife. this place is pretty nice, and i can't wait to see the splash park. connor's going to love it. sure wish i had some pictures to upload right now, but we seriously JUST got here. i'll be sure to nab some tonight and upload them while we watch tv. this is so cool.... i love hotels.

after nathan's done with meetings we'll all head out to dinner at applebees and then probably back to the pool.

aww...nuts... i thought i had my card reader but it's not in the camera case. pics will have to wait until i get home. no biggie. we're on an adventure!! boy, i sure can ramble when i'm sitting in a quiet, dark, nap room.

we got here about an hour and a half before nathan's meeting time, so we went over to cabela's to see the "deers" as connor said. when we pulled up he said, "i go cabela's with papa. daddy, i wanna go huntin'." it's sad that my 2-year-old knows what cabela's is already. oh, well. it's amazing though that he remembers coming here with papa for his birthday 3 months ago. we walked around the entire store while connor greeted every deer and random stranger, then we hit burger king for a quick lunch. before we walked in nathan says, "i bet we can eat for less than 8 bucks." i said yeah right, b/c i know how he normally eats. well, the cheesehead only got a double cheeseburger meal.... our total.... $7.99. hilarious.

as we were ordering, it was obvious that the cashier was training. i ordered my burger and connor's nuggets, then nathan gets up and says, "i'd like a double cheeseburger, hold the cheese, no meat, then insert two patties above the buns......" the ladies face dropped and nathan just cracked up. he just wanted to see her sweat. she loved it and said she was about to pop him one.

i guess i'll surf the net for a little while.... i wish connor would wake up. i want to go swim! :) i'm such a kid. ooh.... maybe i'll snag some of the cookies from our goodie basket..... hmm... yeah, good call.
