"obey father, obey mother.... obey teachers, pastors too!"
"yasth dat, mommy? yasth dat?"
"joooooo.....nah! jooooo...nah!"
"yasth dat, mommy? yasth dat?"
"i will make you fishers of men.... fishers of men.... fishers of men!"
then today we went to varsity vball districts..... they won btw! woo hoo, go girls! he sat with me on the bleachers "talking" on the phone to josh and daniel giving a play by play for what the girls were doing:
"hi josh..... watching volleyball girls...... daddy coaching volleyball girls.... ok, see ya."
"hi daniel.... go 'manda! good job, daddy!! yeah!!!!"
at one point he yelled "go amanda!" so loud i know she heard. she even smiled a little. i'm sure it was hard not to crack up hearing that little voice cheering for all he was worth.
after the first game i took him to the bathroom to change his diaper. when we came back into the gym he yelled, "ok, girls. i'm back! i change my diaper." thank you, connor, for that public service announcement.
he definitely loves the volleyball girls. why not? they give him attention whenever he wants it. :) but amanda is by far his favorite. before the game started he kept asking, "where's manda? c'mere manda!" after we got home from the game, he was sitting on his stool and he had the cutest conversation with nathan:
"daddy, we go see amanda?"
"no, buddy. i think we've seen enough of amanda for one day."
"mmm..... i don't sink so.... we see amanda?"
*trying not to crack up at the fact that he just said, "i don't think so..."
"you don't think so, huh?"
"yeah.... i don't sink so."
"we can see amanda tomorrow."
"oh, ok. we see volleyball girls tomorrow?"
"yeah, we'll see them tomorrow."
"ok, i understand."
it was just too classic that he said it and it seemed to fit the conversation so perfectly. i wonder how many times he really "gets it" and uses phrases correctly and how many times he's just copying what we've said to him. the toddler mind is fascinating. the detail of God's creation just astounds me.
friday night connor was delighted to have tally and papa babysit as we went on an impromptu date to the dollar show. he pretty much kicked us out of the house. as we were getting ready to go he ran toward the door. my naive assumption was that of a joyous mother.... he's coming to give us hugs and beg us to stay! yeah, right! he runs over yelling, "i shut the door! i shut the door, tally!" he might as well have said, "and don't let it hit ya on the way out guys!" i have to say though, i'm glad it's not tears and screaming every time we leave him.... i've seen that and it can be draining. (btw, we saw bourne ultimatum.... by far the best of the bournes. my mind can't seem to follow the other two as well. this one makes everything fit.)
i've been saving up a few pictures of connor and daddy just chillin' out. connor definitely loves doing whatever daddy's doing. "settle down" time is one of our favorites. he's actually starting to sit and snuggle when it's time to wind down for the night. as i was looking through our pictures trying to find the ones i've been saving, i found a couple randoms that i thought i'd throw in there.
oh, yeah, just thought of this: much to the dismay of the tally family i believe connor is going to be a cheese head. that's right. when we watch football nathan has taught him to say, "go packers!" and somehow.... against my better judgment i accidentally taught him to answer, "who's the best quarterback?" with "brett favre!" it's actually pretty funny to hear.
alright, alright... i can hear uncle paul's brain straining just looking at so many words.... here's the pictures.
connor found his animal nose one night.... yes, it was the night that he had been at ava's house and decided that he needed a bandaid just like her. i realize this is a bird beak of some sort but the kid swears it's an elephant. he's been convinced since the day he brought it home. every time he puts it on he makes an elephant noise. whatever.

that is a darn cute face at the end there. I love all the pics. As if I don't see enough of the kid. By the way the bandaid makes him look tough. Good job on the volleyball thing, which reminds me, hilarious volleyball conversations. Ava has been saying, "i don't SINK so too" its probably typical kid talk but I think its cute that they talk the same.
I just love the announcement Connor made as you came back into the gym after the diaper change!!! Sooooo funny and I can actually picture this situation. Too cute. Love you four!
