down to the village

last friday nathan's aunt dawn came down from flint for lunch. she didn't have school that day b/c of teacher conferences, and since she had gone to a previous conference she didn't have to go with the rest of the teachers. she was watching abby and noel (daughters of two other teachers) so they came along for lunch too. we went over to the village for a quick walk around, and then hit subway for lunch.

connor always enjoys the village b/c it's outside. i think the girls enjoyed it b/c we just hit a few highlights and they got to ride the carousel. when we were walking in we saw a huge group and i recognized my papa and aunt claudia. they were with the english language partners from wayne state. lots of asian students come to wayne state for their doctoral work and other studies. our church has a group of people that meet with some of the students as enlish language partners, they hold occasional Bible studies, help find housing.... things like that. so connor loved seeing papa and aunt claudia. we hit a quick loop through the village and headed out. it was a really fabulous day. perfect fall weather and a bright blue sky.

noel was a great helper with connor. she pushed the stroller the whole way through the village, and carried him when we went inside the houses. she managed to get him to look my way for a quick second on the carousel.

noel, i'm all business when i'm riding my horse. it's all about focus.

abby went about four rows back from us to get her favorite horse.

uh.... connor? i'm over here bud. this way, dude.... ok, well at least you're smiling.

Fun! Ironically, I never made it to the village while we lived there, but my m-i-l and I took the kids while I visited a few weeks ago. Luke liked it -esp. the train, and he still talks about the old fashioned houses and cars. That's great that Nathan's aunt doesn't live to far away to do day-visits like that!
