we just did another short trip this past week. we went up tuesday night and headed home thursday morning. we actually went up to clean up the death trail left by a bug bomb. major piles of carpenter ants. disgusting, and yet cool to connor. he loves any and every part of being up north. the clean up job was seriously fast....probably b/c my mom did it. she's something of a woman on a mission when it comes to cleaning. so by the time i got the car unpacked she had just finished cleaning the main floor of the cabin, and we had a whole day to just relax.
we slept in....sort of. there are some wacked out crows that fly to a field just close enough to be wicked annoying. they are usually there at 7:30a sharp. so the first morning they woke me up....as they have all summer.... but for some reason they didn't show on thursday, leaving me to my laziness until almost 9am!!! what is THAT about??? i NEVER sleep in like that. so wednesday we had brefix, went swimming, chilled out by the fire, went for a super good hike, watched some gilmore and hit desi's~the BEST taco lounge in the great lakes. it's a grease pit of a place and i just love it. they make their own chips and salsa and it's delightful. seriously if you're ever in foote site stop there. you'll thank me. if you have issues with mexican food remember: i'm not responsible for any gastrointestinal distress. b.y.o.t. (bring your own tums!)
it was short and sweet, but it was fun. i can always tell that the stress of the city just melts away when we get up there. it's beautiful, it's relaxing, it's a great place to appreciate God's creation and His goodness.
on the way up we stopped at cracker barrel for lunch. my mom--bless her pea pickin' heart-- bought connor a harmonica. that's been such a joy to my ears these past few days. :~) it was actually pretty cute to watch him figure out how to play it. he really gets excited... as you'll see in the video.

so cute...I wish Ava could've gone to the cabin more this summer...or at all. She is such a city girl. soon enough I guess. Mom said she can't wait to get her a harmonica...thanks connor, for being so stinking cute with it, and prompting an irritating toy for Ava.
well, nic, i just want to make sure i do my part in making your house half as loud as mine. remember, connor isn't as easily tamed as ava.
