randomness

i finally used the last of my christmas gift cards the other day.....yes, that's right. christmas gift card. i'm not going to get something unless i really love it. and sometimes i like to hide a gift card deep in my wallet so i find it later on and it's like a little treat all over again. my mom let me use her car this weekend and i hit kohls to see what i could find. i had to get a frame for nathan's office, and i wanted to get a new shirt. i have to say, what is the deal with designers these days? i just don't understand what the deal is. maybe it's just b/c i have plain taste, but does it seem to anyone else as if they design clothes like the northland kitchen used to make chili? whatever's left just gets thrown in the pot. i used to find all sorts of random veggies in that stuff....and i'm pretty sure i once found a gobble stick. while i was shopping i saw stuff that looked like two shirts that had been cut apart and re-attached in a weird mix-n-match sort of way. hideous. absolutely hideous. but i managed to find one cute shirt and two super fun necklaces.

we had a sunday school activity later that night....so i actually got to meet some of the girls in our class. we went to pottery creations--an all time fave!--and had a great time with the girls. then we met the guys for banana splits. it was nice to meet them since i don't get to go to our sunday school b/c of teaching three's. laura came over to babysit the little man for us. i had total confidence in laura's babysitting abilities so the only instructions i left were how to work the remote. when laura was little we used to babysit her and give her coke and candy like crazy, so i was pretty sure it would be complete anarchy when she took control. and as uncle paul told me this afternoon, "there were no rules in laura land." sweet. connor loved it. he had been going through an "i don't want to be out of mom and dad's sight" phase and sunday school drop offs were getting ugly, but apparently when laura got there he basically kicked nathan out the door. he woke up the next morning saying, "hi dad. wawa come over?" and yes, "wawa" means laura.... pretty much all the kids called her that.

i'm adding some videos tonight. i'm going to apologize in advance for the "boyish" behavior in the golf ball video. somehow, even a not-quite-2-yr-old boy finds toilet humor hysterical. but he's just too stinkin' cute. and i love the video of him cracking up taking silly pictures with daddy. he is just such a fun-lovin' kid.
