beautiful days

wow has it ever been gorgeous around here! we had a weird weekend, but today we're back to normal. on friday nathan was asked if he could drive a truck to chicago for work. this sort of threw us off b/c i was supposed to go get my hair cut at lunch, and nathan was going to come home and watch connor. no biggie. i'll just call nic and see if she can watch the little man during lunch. she already had 2/3 sherflets but insisted that she didn't mind. (it's not bad when you watch kids during lunch b/c while they're eating they're stuck in those chairs...kind of works well.) go auntie nic! you the girl!

after i got a trim, i picked up connor and met nathan at the house. he wanted to get a bag of clothes b/c he wasn't sure if he would have to stay the night or if he would fly directly back. just as he was leaving he got a call that he would be driving a bit further north than chi-town. ok, so what are we talkin' milwaukee? keep going. oshkosh? further still. appleton? yep. our old shopping grounds. (i used to try and get away to appleton all the time when we were at nbbc b/c they had a good mall.) he said all he heard was "yooper" talk. things like, "ya", "eh", "don't ya know?" he ended up staying the night, and i have to say it was weird. when he was on tour i got really used to sleeping alone and just hanging out with the con man. then when he finished i thought, "well, i'm glad we don't have to do that again." so it was weird but we still had a good night.

i wanted to rent a movie, but the one i wanted was out. so i thought there must be a movie on tv. nothing. i ended up watching survivorman. pathetic. i may as well have gone out in the woods and counted birds. no offense, papa. but i was reliving my childhood. while my friends watched tgif on friday nights, i was watching big bucks 1-4...the movie. it wasn't that bad really. and by the time we were teens my parents had a tv in their room so i could watch all the nick at nite i wanted. yeah, i watched nick at nite. maxwell smart was classic.

back to today.....
it was so beautiful outside, so after lunch we walked up to grant's and snagged an arctic swirl. delightful. connor walked the whole way there and halfway back. we picked him up when our hands were starting to get cold from the ice cream. but i'm sure he didn't care if he was walking or riding. he was just loving being out in the sun with his shades on.....the kid is weird. what can i say?

the next two pics show us all walking.....i think it's funny to see how connor has characteristics of the two of us..even just in walking. i know, genetics. but it's still cool. fearfully and wonderfully made.

there's a dog behind that fence. connor walks up saying, "dog. dog. woof." he's really getting good at noticing barks every time we leave the house. and i mean EVERY TIME.

cheese! loving the shades, dude.

mom, what is this delightful toy? it's humongous!

yeah, we look cool....but what's this i hear about ice cream? can we get some of that action?

OH MAAAAAN not only do you mention THE PLACE (I love Grants) but you can see the building in the last picture. This is sheer torture.

It is cool to see the lil man walking with you on the sidewalk...all that walking practice is paying off for the lil man.

It must be great to live in a such a prime location and be able to walk to Grant's! :) We were going to try a walk today, and now it's all cloudy and threatening rain. O well.

Cool shades, Connor!

yeah, i keep forgetting not to mention the delicacies of ap, sorry. :)

baskin robbins?? cool. does it cost as much as doughnuts? hope not. :)

katie-
yeah, i wanted to go with the girls, but i'm holding off until after lunch. maybe it will warm up.

i'm not so sure this is a prime location. maybe a prime location for 15 lbs. a year. i guess it's good that i don't have a cash stash around the house. i would be sunk. :)

I say we sign that boy up as a "walker" for us! He could get double miles every time - - we'll just call them "extra-credit-cutie-points"! :)

We didn't walk today because of the clouds; tomorrow promises even a warmer day, so we're going to go at 11am. Can you come? Or is it a bad time for Connor. Does he still take a morning nap? I'm always up for an afternoon walk too. :)
