what's up with THAT??

for months now i've been noticing a phenomenon. nearly every time i've used the bathroom at my parents house, i have used the last of the toilet paper (seriously!). and of course, being a wife/mom now, i refill it. b/c we are the only people on the planet capable of completing this arduous task. at first, it was funny....."hmm. would ya look at that? just enough for me." "whaddaya know? just enough again." then it got weird. "ok? have they noticed this seemingly 'endless' roll they've got going here?" then it was like a curse. "are you KIDDING ME???" "WHAT??? AGAIN??"

it got so bad, at one point i vowed never to use their toilet again. i almost made it. that blasted christmas party killed me. too much diet coke...not enough room in the old bladder. i seriously debated the pros and cons of just holding it. kidney problems? changing the t.p.? no more drinks for the night? washing down my pie with some nice hot coffee? the war raged in my mind, but my body won.

i felt like i was in an alfred hitchcock movie. creeping down the dark hallway, slowly inching my way to the bathroom door, pushing it open....crrreeeaaak! AAHHH!!!!!!!!! this is UNREAL!! how in the WORLD? i was going to say something that day, but i figured everyone would just call me crazy.

fast forward to my dad's bday dinner. we got there and, as usual, i had to go to the bathroom. so i nonchalantly sauntered down the hall, assuming all the way that i'd be replacing the roll as soon as i got in. ah, yes...hello old friend. so we meet again. when i rejoined the group i told the tale of my woes. dumbfounded my parents looked at each other. apparently, they were under the impression that they had purchased a magic roll of toilet paper, and they were quite disappointed that, in fact, it was just me changing it all the time. there were no dancing t.p. fairies or sprites that came in every night to make sure it was full.

i figured that now, after telling this story, it wouldn't happen again. murphy's law, right?

so yesterday nic and i took the kids over to my parents for the morning just to hang out and use their computer. i was on pins and needles to see what would happen. i didn't want to jinx it, so i tried not to think about it. (crazy, i know...but funny, yes.) well, i was successful in not thinking about it. i went to use the bathroom and didn't even realize until after that i didn't have to change the roll. yahoo! the curse is broken!! so i had a little laugh with myself and thought nothing more about it until......

i didn't hear the kids for a while so i went to check on them. they were in the bathroom. how did i know this? oh, it was probably b/c of the trail of toilet paper coming down the hall. they had emptied the rest of the roll. beavers and ducks!!! so after my small victory (so i thought), the toilet paper said, "in your face!" and i had to change it anyway.

one of these days i'm just going to leave it empty.

and now...pictures for the reading impaired.

ava gives kisses while connor asks, "is this velour?"

What a strange, strange curse. Does this only happen to you at your parent's house? Sounds like another episode for that sitcom based on your life. :)

Okay you just done did some learning on me. I thought you were guilty of a typo.
Sprites=Spirits BUT NO!
I found this on Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprite

Could you please just say fairies. We math people cannot handle new words.

i forgot to say:
sprites were rainbow brites little friends....but you were probably not a rainbow brite fan. i peg you for more of a strawberry shortcake fan....since you more than likely weren't allowed to watch smurfs. (gramma put the nix on those b/c of gargamel aka-the devil.)

Honey, you need to get out more if you're keeping track of how often you change your parents' toliet paper. :)
p.s. loved rainbow brite & the sprites and smurfs.

I am going to bring you a roll or two of Chinese Toilet paper. They are teeny tiny and have no inner tube in the center. You have to get a new one every other day...so you could put them in your parents bathroom...they wont be able to make it till your next visit thus putting the replacement process back on them. =)

PS here TP is Bring your own so whenever you go out in public ya gotta carry a stash. Perhaps you should be doing that there also for your parents sake. :)

I thought about you today when I had to change my toilet paper roll. Actually, I was thinking that I wish MY kids were here to change it for me. I enjoy reading your blog.
