no pics for you!

you're familiar with the "soup nazi" of seinfeld fame? well, i am dubbing myself the "picture nazi". you may be wondering why a fairly new first time mom would want to withold pictures. if you knew my uncle you would understand this short term punishment.

here's the story......long and drawn out and extremely wordy.

the whole reason i started my blog was for far away family. that way we could easily share pictures and stories of the little man as he grows up. soon, i uncovered a myriad of college friends that also had blogs. so i started adding fun stories of my insane life (i do realize that most of my adventures are brought on by myself), and it turned out to be a great way to share experiences with other new moms, friends--old and new, and anyone else unfortunate enough to stumble across my blog.

i usually try to put pictures on every post, but that's just not always possible. i am a true first time mom, so i usually have enough. the other day i looked at all of my recently filled picture books and i was shocked. i've taken HOW many pictures? this kid is barely past a year old and i have filled at least 6 books. good night, nurse. i know that my picture happy fingers have slowed down quite a bit, but i'm still right on track for being a spazzy first timer. don't worry, i'm sure if we have more kids i'll be WAY less spazzy......well, at least with my pictures. shutty!

now, i've taken a lot of abuse about my blog....."your posts are too long....", "you're too wordy...", "NEED MORE PICTURES....." that last one is my neanderthal uncle. no matter how many pictures i post he is always telling me it's not enough. well, uncle paul, this extremely verbose post is dedicated to you. you'd think that a guy with a dental degree and bunches of letters behind his name wouldn't be opposed to reading every once in a while. but apparently, he's only cool with picture books. sorry, bub. no pic-y, just wordy. :) hey, i've said it before and i'll say it again......you don't have to read it. but if you chose not to read it, don't tell me how wordy it is....kind of like, if you don't vote, you can't complain. so here's your ticket to shutty town. (now, all of you super sensitive wimpy doodles out there that are saying, "oh, that poor uncle of hers..." let me share our family motto... "get tough or get out". it's all in love.) and you have to understand the only reason why he pesters is b/c he loves the kids. today nicole was helping ava and, apparently, blocked uncle paul's view briefly.....nicole was quickly told that he couldn't see ava, and she needed to move. but who doesn't love looking at that cutie?

true story: when i was about 9 months old, my parents packed up and moved to texas. i was the only grandkid at that time, and the family was DEVASTATED that i was moving so far away. i'm told that my uncle paul thought it would be a good idea to attempt to gain custody of me so i wouldn't move away. i can't blame him...i was stinkin' cute. so now you know the reason he wants the pics....just loves the fam. ~~~ as you may have guessed our stay in the lone star state was short lived. i think they lasted 3 months.

ooh, i just thought of this. i forgot about this story the other day, so here it is...... friday morning, i woke up to a phone call at 8:30. it was a very reasonable hour, but i had just slept in b/c a) i'm a bum and b) connor had a bad night of coughing thursday and kept me up all night. marcia r. was calling to tell me there was a cool pink jeep (kids toy) out on the curb for trash pick up. it would be perfect for ava. so i called nic and we were going to check it out. we looked like swiss cheese. she had just gotten out of the shower, and i hadn't even gotten out of my pj's. my hair was going every which-a-way, but i managed to get my jeans on. poor connor was sniffling and coughing, so i threw him in the back seat of nic's exploder and we headed two blocks up to lincoln park. just as we got closer we realized that their trash men had just come through. STINK! oh, well. we were bummed, but more b/c of our bad breath than not getting the jeep.

so, i got the word from uncle mitchell and aunt tina that white christmas at the fox is a hit. they went the other night, and told me that it was great. which makes me even more excited. i knew it wouldn't be as good as my memories of watching it at gramma's and doing all the dance numbers....yes, ALL the numbers. i had them memorized. i even had a barbie that looked like vera-ellen. she blinked when you pushed a button in her back. she danced many a dance as "mandy". you know, "mandy, there's a minister handy...." classic. it's just good to know that it won't disappoint.

we had dinner at gramma tally's today.....too many favorites to mention, but i'll send out my love for broccoli, mac & cheese, and crescents. delightful!

laundry calls. nathan leaves tomorrow morning. but he's almost done! that will be great. though, i'm considering purchasing a new, much larger bed. i'm quite used to this whole "not sharing" thing. makes for a comfortable sleep.

Believe me, I hear ya with the pictures thing. As I look over Lauren's file on the computer and compare it to Ryan's....well....let's just say, we won't be filling up a book about Ryan for a long time. The first time I did a post without pictures, people started complaining. Blogging shows you who your true blog friends are. Continue on Picture Nazi.

I LOVE White Christmas - - - EVERY line memorized - complete with accents, properly-emphasized words, and vocal inflections! I cray EVERY stinkin' time that they honor the General, too!

Dr. Paul can go start his own blog. I say yours rocks, and I am the Mother Superior of Blogville, so my opinion matters most! However - a FEW pics never hurt anybody! :)
