well, this weekend was spent hanging out with granny b. she was flyin' solo too, so ace and i spent the night. since connor still had a bit of a cough, he stayed with her instead of hacking all over the nursery, and i went to teach the threes. we had quite a delightful day. there were only six kids....something must be going around.
i was quite surprised, and pleased, to find that the speed limit on 75 has been raised to 70 all the way from my mom's to my house. that helped shave precious minutes off my trip in to sunday school, since i was running late. it's about time.....i say. 65 is just so.......ohio. everyone in michigan drives 70 anyway. even on highway 2 across the u.p. where the limit is a wild and crazy 55. and let me tell ya, they have no mercy those yoopers! especially the chicks. but i've learned to conform to the rules of society....mostly. and not a moment too late. after church i was driving down dix following two red tauruses....or is it tauri?? :) anywho......red #1 was going about 27 mph and red #2 was about a foot from her bumper. as nathan has well taught me....that's an accident waiting to happen. so i changed lanes. i was just about to champaign where the light had turned red. there were maybe two or three cars stopped in front of red #1, and she stops about 40 feet from the last car in line. apparently, she stopped a little short b/c WHAMMO! red #2 went right into her rear. i saw this happen from my rearview mirror b/c i had already pulled up to the light. i thought about stopping, but 4 other cars had already stopped. too many chiefs. so i got on 75 and saw a vagabond being shoved into the backseat of a cop car. boy, the things you see when you leave a three block radius! excitement everywhere.
mom and i went to ruby tuesday for the salad bar lunch and then we hit the little mall by her house. we saw my cousin nanette, which was nice. and i think i found the frame i'm going to use to redecorate. they're at tarjay....of course. but i'm checking pier one and world market tomorrow. while nathan's gone i'm framing some picture for our boring walls. our living room is nice, we have had some ansel adams b&w's that we got from nathan's grandpa....they're beautiful and i love them, but i want to put some family pics up. so i'm giving the living room a mini-makeover.
and now, for all of you that scroll down only looking for pictures.......DAD!.......

this spot looks napworthy!
this is so unlike him i just had to get the pic. after he UNPACKED my basket everywhere, he decided that his downy fresh blanket was quite appealing and just plopped down.

on saturday night, the swans came by to get some food. connor and ava were banging the windows and yelling at them for a few minutes. it was very cute.

Yes, the streets in the downriver can hold some exciting action. :) Glad you avoided that accident - I hate it when people drive so close to the car in front of them. If they DON'T get in an accident, it will save them, like, 10 seconds. Idiots. And I'm with you, I love the 70mph speed limit! I have to face the 55 zone in the UP this Friday. I haven't gotten a ticket yet though. I laugh when I remember our trip to your house when you got TWO tickets. Sorry if I did have something to do with them like your family accused me of. :)
Glad you had a fun weekend with your mom. Sounds fun. We were no-shows at church yesterday - decided to go visit our local urgent care clinic instead. Luke has a double ear infection. We made it almost 4 months w/o one though, so I'm happy.
Friend, you know I love you dearly, but, Hello - - - they changed the speed limit on 75 on July 1st! :)
katie-
barely fall and you've already had quite a run of sickness! bummer. and yes, the tickets were your fault. "are were close? how long? boy this is a long trip." :)
brenda-
see? i wasn't joking about that three block radius. :) usually, when we go south 75 nathan's driving. this week has opened up a whole new box of experiences for me. honestly, i haven't seen a sign until this week. i must really zone out when i'm riding in the car.
Just wait till when you find him with his pants and DIAPER off. It will happen. Bank on it.
Hey - so glad you entered these pics of the kids - they are toooo cute. Ace looks so "ready to get into something" in the last picture. (just like daddy) Hope you are well. Take care of yourself and the little man. We love you.
I'm afraid Jewels is right. The diaper-off incident WILL happen. Just hope he doesn't smear it on anything that's not washable (or that he won't eat it).
Wow. I forgot how fast life happens up there. Down here in the "thriving metropolis" of Greenville, the speed limit on the 2 nearby interstates are 60 & 65. What's really frustrating, though, is that there is no Southfield Fwy down here. You have to take a million streets that are like a 4-lane Michigan Ave with the untimed lights or the interstates. There's no middle of the road, and all the speed limits are really low and there is no such thing as timed lights, except for timing them to turn red just as the one before turned green, causing a massive traffic pileup. Enjoy your speedy life.
;-) you know, my kids and your kid play in the nursery together. you never know what they're teaching him! maybe one day connor will wake up with his clothes ON and his diaper down around his ankles. ya never know!
dad isnt the only one to scroll down for pictures. I have trouble reading long comments on your blog (katie)
