we started out by getting nathan ready for his day of work with uncle mike. the golf course is slowing WAY down so nathan has been looking for jobs to fill in until his testing is complete. we are praising the Lord for His provision everyday! this short term thing came up with mike and then it looks like nathan will be able to travel for about a month and a half with a jd tour. it's kind of a bummer b/c it's one of those "a few days gone, a few days home" situations, but it's the only thing that has opened up recently so we decided to suck it up and take it. nathan has been searching online and begging everyone he knows for a laptop that he could take with him. his practice tests have to be taken using a cd rom. today my mom told me that she has one he could borrow and she just got the cd rom fixed. PTL!! HE has provided every need. i shouldn't be surprised by this AT ALL, but i am still AMAZED everytime i see the intricacies of God's plan and provision.
anyway....off my soap box now, wouldn't want to start preaching....gasp!
then auntie nic and ava came and picked us up and we went up to the church to meet papa. we went with him to wayne state univ. campus downtown and had lunch with the international students. it was a fun time and we got to eat gramma tally's meatballs, potato salad and pretzel dessert! delightful!! we saw some of the students that we had met at hawkfest and chatted with some new faces. one of the ladies had a little baby with her....very cute. she and connor sat and stared at each other clapping their hands and smiling. until connor growled and sent the little girl crying! poor thing. the lady and i were trying to communicate (she spoke no english--i think she was a family member of one of the students just there to watch the baby.) the lady pointed at connor's teeth and showed four fingers; then she showed the little girls bottom teeth and showed only two fingers. i smiled and lifted connor's top lip to reveal the rest of kujo's teeth.....OH! she said and we both started laughing. i wanted to take a picture of the two kids sitting there but i didn't want to take a picture without really being able to ask if it was ok. so i just took connor and ava. papa's group has a website you can check out at cbfwsu.org.
as we were leaving campus for much needed naps, someone from uncle paul's office called. they had been trying to get a hold of us for a few days and for a bunch of reasons we had missed them, but they were calling about a surprise get together they were having to celebrate uncle paul's 20th anniversary. 20 years ago he hung out his shingle and opened his doors to frighten children everywhere.....i mean, clean teeth....oops. so a bunch of the fam was able to go over to his office for pizza and cake. since we were on the way home we decided to make a cameo. that's actually where i got the most pictures....it's lots easier for me to snap family than complete strangers. but that little baby was cute.....you'll just have to trust me.

connor and ava loved the couches at the student center, of course this pic was taken before the room got stuffed with people. it was quite a turn out.

we invaded the entire waiting room. the girls from the office had to stay behind the desk b/c there was no more room.
mom, did you see this toy?? it's sweet! why don't we have one!
look at me, dahling! i'm fabulous!i love it that ava knows when she's being cute...what a ham!
connor got his paw into the icing and before my dad could stop him.....whammo!
no, he's not reading beauty and the beast to us.....he's telling the infamous pizza story.
on the cake is a picture of uncle paul with miniature versions of the characters from rudolph....guess which one is his favorite......duh! the elf that wants to be a dentist! forgot that little guys name though.

herbie! i kept thinking 'hermie'....no offense to the mack fam. :)
thanks. i knew someone would know it. so, did herb ever want to be a dentist? probably not after that movie, huh?
I have heard the pizza story. Your parents need to write a book they have so many funny stories.
Oh we miss our dentist. We will be back in two years with some serious cleaning needs :) Glad you all had a party for him. He is SO good. Glad to hear you tell about His provisions for you. Keep letting us know...we are counting those blessings with ya. Tell Cliff Tally that we are waiting over here for him to visit. I know he has such a heart for the people that come from this country.
His name was both Herbie and Hermie. about 10min into the flick they change it.
UM
I was going to be a know-it-all and log right in and tell you the elf's name, but Suzanne clearly beat me to it! Guess it makes sense for her to know that one!
BTW: Do you people ever just SIT?!?!?! I tell you, Girl, you have one busy busy fam! That's actually very cool. I don't think I could keep up with your grandparents any better than I can keep up with my own parents - always on the go - and almost always for the benefit of others! When/If I grow up, I sooooooo want to be like all of them!!!!
julie-
you should ask to hear it again...it usually gets better each time. :)
finazzio fam-
keep counting! they're rolling in like crazy on this side of the pond. :)
and i'll be sure to set up some appointments for you...then i won't have to go.:)

so THAT'S why hermie kept running through my head.

you know there's a lot of "crazy" attached to us too. be careful what you wish for. :) oh, relax everybody! i'm just kidding. but you're right...they're always up to something.
Sounds like a fun-filled day! I bet the kids snoozed for quite some time afterwards:).
I love how your family enjoys being together - a true blessing!
