i say that b/c really, only tally's (present or former) will understand this to it's fullest extent.
today, i had a full house. i had connor (duh!), erica and shannon (my tues./fri. babysitting job), and at 4pm riley came over so his mom and dad could go to the doc to check on their soon-to-be-new arrival. we had a grand old time, coloring, play-doh-ing, snacking, and just being kids. altogether a successful time (minus the minor scrape on erica's back and the applesauce in riley's lap).
fast forward to after dinner. i cleaned up the kitchen, put connor to bed, straightened the living room, and stacked the games and toys to go back to the bin downstairs. feeling quite good about my accomplishments all the while. having been up and down the stairs many, many times today i thought it would be great if i could make it in one trip. so i figured out a way to stack the three game boxes, crayons, markers, and play-doh accessories.....but those eight cans of play-doh....what to do, what to do? suddenly it came to me! if i tucked in my shirt i could use it like a kangaroo pouch and slide the play-dohs down around my belly...and.....WA LAH! i could easily traverse the steps without dropping a single item.
and then...it hit me.....i had pulled a gramma tally!!! how many times did we see her pull things from her shirt? her comb, candy bag, money, various other items wrapped in tin foil or plastic wrap.....i once saw her hold two cokes right out of the fridge without even flinching while we rode our bikes down to the river! AMAZING!
as i was "unloading" i just couldn't help myself...i started cracking up and thought, "oh, yes...this story must be told!"
so for those of you that don't get this.....just appreciate it for what it's worth. a good laugh and a healthy appreciation for family. quirks and all.

I think I am one of the privileged ones who "gets it!" I CAN'T believe you thought of that and actually did that. Did grabbing a plastic bag ever cross your mind? HILARIOUS. Your grandkids are gonna love you. ("Crazy Christina" just doesn't sound as good as "Crazy Betty" though)
PS. My sensibilities still don't believe that your grandma actually put a can of coke in her secret staching place. Tell me, is it really true?
kt-
that's awesome! i love that you stated what should have been the obvious solution!! i'm cracking up here! there must be 50 plastic bags not five feet from where i was. this just goes to show the thought process in our gene pool.
and yes, she really had a coke there! i think it was nicole (and bethany russell) that wanted cokes and nicole's bike cup holder was busted...of course!
I'm cold just THINKING about those Cokes! I sat here laughing out loud - literally! It'll be good for you to have Katie around soon - she can help you station plastic bags at critical locations around the house! Ha ha!
brenda,
and now you understand just a little more of the insanity that is my life! :)
