summer is gone. BRING ON FALL!
i do enjoy summer. i enjoy my kids' enjoyment of summer. the heat can go. we really packed in the activities this year. which made summer seem to go by even faster.
right out of the shoot we hit the pool. i am thankful for my uncle's pool. i really hate public pools.
we had another successful garage sale over at my sister's.
connor's baseball season ended with a fun team picnic.
the kids enjoyed two weeks of vbs... one at their cousins' church and connor got to go to the vbs at our church.
a couple trips to the cabin mixed around the canoe marathon and josh and molly's wedding. (we missed out on daniel and melissa's but were able to enjoy a week of vacation with some friends).
megan gave us some entertainment with her stye and subsequent allergic reaction to the antibiotic given in a feeble attempt to squelch the stye. (ps--she is scheduled for a procedure to remove the stye in her left eye. this week another one popped up in her right, and we are hoping the meds will diminish it so it won't need to be removed.)
we had a surprise "heart attack" party for my dad. thankfully, the surprise didn't shock him. that would be ironic. "how did you have your second heart attack, sir?" ... "oh, my stupid kids tried to surprise me with a party on the one year anniversary of my heart attack and it was quite a shock to my heart." he's fine. for crying out loud he did the marathon just 11 months after the ordeal. and now he's trying to get clearance to summit mount rainier. my parents are so crazy.
before i knew it we were at uncle paul and anne's wedding and ...boom... school started right after that.
connor lost three teeth and we ripped out our front grass. and by "we" i mean "everyone but me." :) nathan and connor worked like dogs and soon we will have grub-free grass that can withstand the full sun our lot receives.
so, here we are. i have a seven year old second grader. ... oh, he finally had his birthday on a school day. that was a much bigger deal than i thought it would be. he just started his first soccer season, and he's absolutely loving it.
i am thankful for the fun we were able to have this year. i think we are finally moving out of the funk.... ok, me.. i think *I* am finally starting to move out of it. it's been a long few years. i'm just glad we had these good times together.
