well, i don't know that i can truly say i'm a runner, but it sounds good. kind of like bob wylie in "what about bob?" yelling .....as he's strapped to the mast of the sailboat covered in lifejackets.... "i'm SAAAAAILING! look, i'm sailing! i sail. i'm a sailor.....ahoy!" yes, that's a fair comparison. i "ran" two minute intervals then walked four minutes. i read a how-to article last weekend about getting into running and something struck me.... i could do that. i don't really WANT to do that. but i COULD. but really, if there's one good thing.... ok, one of the many good things, but this one seems little.... that i've learned from my parents and grandparents it's KEEP MOVING! when you get older you just have to do more to get up and keep moving. i'm not old....but truthfully, i don't even view any of them as really "old".... they are always on the go. even my gramma sanders. for crying out loud she's pushing 93 and she's JUST starting to slow down. we used to go for walks and i would get winded trying to keep up with her. and if i'm not mistaken, she went golfing sometime last year. but my excuse of being tired from babies keeping me awake all night just doesn't cut it anymore. they both sleep through the night on a regular basis, and i have to get my hiney in motion.
the first day was almost kamikaze-like. i ran right after putting connor on the bus, and it was COLD. my throat was killing me. i had a headband on and it was killing me (if you know my gene pool this will make TOTAL sense). so i didn't run all five 2-minute runs. i ran three and stopped. i knew if i kept going i would hate it and i'd never go back out. wednesday i ran before lunch and that was perfect. it was much warmer, i didn't wear a headband, and i made it four runs. i was feeling pumped. today it was sunny, deliciously fallish, and i made it five runs without batting an eye. my mental hurdle was defeated! i am totally hooked. i think i will stretch the program out a little longer than what the article originally said. they suggested ramping up your run each week. i think i'll stretch it to two weeks. that seems reasonable to me, and i know i won't feel defeated.
it's a little step. just my size.

Sounds like a great way to ease into running! Running for only 2 minute intervals seems much more do-able than a flat 5 minute run. Good for you -- keep us posted on your progress!
