writer's block

does it count as writer's block if you just can't think of anything to fill up your blog??? i didn't think so....

we are easing into our summer schedule around here. and since no one is in school yet, that means absolutely nothing. nothing changes. well, the weather is nicer. so that's a bonus. i, for one, am enjoying the freedom of a practically schedule-less life.

i am sure we will soon have pictures to post from our pool outings, picnics, park walks, and other various summer activities. but for now i will use this post to pretend i am chatting away with an old friend. it's gonna be rambling and scattered memories of recent weeks.

connor recently graduated from the 3s sunday school to the upstairs 4s class. you may think, "why does the fact that it's upstairs mean so much?" if you could have seen the kids' faces when we got to the top of the stairs you would have thought we were seeing the view from the top of the empire state building. i heard a chorus of "wow! yeah! cool!" some of them had never been to the upstairs classrooms, and when they went up for the first time it was VERY exciting. connor was second or third in line and his "wow" was definitely the loudest!

we did some wheelin' and dealin' and snagged a bike trailer for the kids. i borrowed my mom's bike for the summer and we have been all over town and then some. i don't have a picture of it yet, but it is one of connor's new favorite things. of course, when we go out he usually says, "boy, it's a nice day." about 5 times. this isn't just small talk either. oh, no. he's setting up for his strategically placed park plug. just about the time we pass the park he yells, "boy! it's sure a nice day! it's a nice day for a park, huh?" sometimes i give in even if i wasn't planning it. i mean, how can you pass up that kind of shmoozing?

one thing that cracked me up in a big way was connor's discussion with nathan about rhyming words. they were on skype laughing and rhyming with momma jo-g and the next day connor was talking about how much fun he had. here's what he said to nathan:
connor: hey, dad.... i'd like to try some unique words now.
nathan: unique words, huh?
connor: yes, and i'll practice some english with it... like fish/dish. hat/bat.

i love when connor has those touching brother-sister moments with meg.... i have to cherish them when they happen b/c he is still in the "meg is touching my stuff and it's ticking me off" phase. one of his favorite things (and mine, currently) is when he likes to come into her room at the end of the night and sing to her while i'm getting her jammies on. he likes to sing "twinkle twinkle little star". he starts nice enough... just regular sweet singing. but then he gets softer and softer and adds a super sweet little side to side shake to his head. it's almost like a little 3-yr-old boy vibrato, and it is absolutely adorable.

i've got pictures from today---NATHAN'S BIRTHDAY! his dad was able to stop by for about an hour and a half during a lay over. so we had an abbreviated birthday lunch/dinner. i don't have those uploaded yet, though.

in the meantime, just enjoy these shots of the putt-putt course connor and i made the other day. he was pumped.

the tunnel... this was a favorite. it's the only time i've found that little hill useful.

over the pickle.... action shot... he didn't exactly want to putt, so it was more like a chipping course.

i think this is supposed to be our version of the classic windmill.

this one turned out a little more like croquet, but it worked. it was basically a figure 8 around the little golf flags.

over the ramp

through the sprinkler.... he kept asking me to turn on the water.

through the sprinkler turned into chip it over the sprinker, and the cup, and the next hole if you're lucky.

So cute! He's getting so big! That is exactly something i could picture Jackson making (if he knew what golf was! :) Jxn just graduated to his 3 yr. old class and i thought it would be a little strange for him b/c his teachers are "aunt" so an so - but he was like "see ya all later!"
