the daddy song and duck lips

when nathan was a little guy he had to sing a song in a program. it went something like this:

wave, wave, wave at the window
wave and give me a smile.
wave, wave, wave at the window
daddy will be back in a while.

it's a cute little song, and he taught it to connor. we thought it would be a fun way to say goodbye in the morning. connor loves to sing it, and has been calling it "the daddy song". nathan got him on tape singing it. it turned out pretty cute. of course, the video quickly digresses into connor telling nathan who his "girlfriend" is.... he really loves the vb girls, especially amanda. nathan cracked up one day when connor said, "ooh, manda... girlfriend." i'm not sure where THAT word came from, but nathan ran with it, and it cracks him up. connor loves singing anything and everything....even now he's singing 'jesus loves me' at the top of his lungs. over and over and over and over..... but my favorite is at night when we're settling down for bed and he gets to choose the songs we sing. he always picks 'deep and wide' first and lately he's been asking for it a special way. it usually plays out like this:

mommy: what songs to you want to sing tonight, buddy?
connor: ummmmm..... deep and wide.
so i start to sing only to be interupted by:
connor: mommy, do it deep voice?
then he starts to sing in his "deep voice" which is slightly lower than his normal voice, but the kicker is his lips. he does this duck lip thing that is just too funny.

this morning the little man had a rough start. he's been saying "no" to EVERYTHING. we've been really trying to consistenly crack down on it, and this morning was pretty rough. we finally made it to brefix and connor was sucking down his apple juice when i told him to take a bite of cereal. he said, "no"..... kids are so dumb.... then nathan makes the classic move of asking, "what did you just say?" connor lowers his juice cup, eyes still fixed on the tv and says, "i said no." in this matter of fact perhaps he didn't hear me voice. nathan was trying so hard not to laugh. it was definitely a difficult disciplining moment.

can't get the duck lips video. i'll get it later.

yeah, there's no shame in our game. we're definitely not a "bottom" family. i'm already hearing the gasps. haha!

I don't know if I count as another family but were not 'bottom's' either. I don't know where we will fall on all these 'bad' words but one thing I know you and I can both feel superior about....our stand on SANTA!!!
