movin' on up....

i'm not even joking when i say the jefferson's theme song has been running through my mind since last sunday. it's not like i watched the show all that often...yeah, i saw it on occasion, but puh-leez! it's kind of getting annoying.

see, it all started when i was told that connor could move up to the toddler 2 class since he is finally walking.....yippee skippy! cue the song.....well, we're movin' on up!! (movin' on up) to the east side (movin' on up) to a DE-lux apartment in the sky! i sort of jokingly sang it to him that day and it's been stuck. i was doing the dishes the other day and started singing it.....then during laundry....then changing connor's diaper. FOR THE LOVE! get it out!!! i'm hoping to rid myself of this song completely by the end of business tomorrow. i'd rather be singing handy manny, or dora even...i'd take any other annoying kids song over this monstrosity.

maybe venting helped get it out....let's hope. or you may find me wandering the streets some night singing under my breath.

on to bigger and better things. since connor was movin' on...... (stop it! stop it!)..... you know... we started practicing some things that he will do in his new class. they have a short rest time where the kids each get to lay...lie....plop down on a towel. basically all i could imagine was the teacher saying, "ok, it's towel time." and putting connor down on his towel only to have him bolt in true connor fashion. i knew he had to see this strange ritual before he got into the classroom or it could be a disastrous day. now don't get me wrong, connor is a GREAT sleeper. he knows our routine at home, and he has always been very good at going to bed for naps and nighttime...even on vaca's (praise the Lord for that!). but let's just be honest, there's a reason why babies sleep in nothing short of a jail cell. they are curious little boogers and exploration is their specialty. so this week i brought out towels once a day to practice. the first try was a nightmare. the next day i was babysitting and the girls helped TREMENDOUSLY. he wanted to do whatever they were doing so it was a perfect set-up. i think it may have helped...i didn't hear any horrid reviews from the workers. we'll see how he does in the coming weeks.

friday was date night. we ditched the little man and headed up to see the boys' game. they made it to regional finals and it was a pretty good game. well, i liked it. connor stayed at grampa and granny b's and it was oddly quiet in our house. but it was nice to get a solid night of sleep without the "what if he wakes up" factor playing in the back of my mind.

it's wasn't a bad weekend at all. nathan got a little sick. tonight it was pretty bad, so he stayed home from church but he needs his rest....wednesday's the next test!

usually i get a shower before connor wakes up. if for some reason i don't (if he wakes up early), i'll normally just give him books to read in his crib whenever i finally get around to showering. well, on this day it was around 10a by the time i could jump in. poor little guy was just plain tuckered out. when i got out of the shower i found him zonked on his books.

looks like dad's been teaching him to read. this is how he made it through college.....haha. not quite, but the idea was nathan's so i couldn't resist the jab.
