our lazy weekend.....

after a 'work like dogs' weekend up at the cabin....this past weekend was a welcomed retreat. although, we did toss around the idea of heading back up to the cabin on friday night, but we had plans for saturday and i was sub'ing in 3-yr.-old sunday school. our saturday plans almost were not b/c we couldn't find a babysitter until late friday night.....thanks, laura!

so saturday morning we hit the tennis courts. which was surprisingly fun. normally it's no fun b/c i'm horrible at tennis and nathan's quite good. but something happened....i got better! amazing, i know. when i went to florida with my parents, my mom, sis and i went to play tennis every morning. i think i just relaxed and worked the kinks out of my game....when i played with nathan i would get so tense b/c i knew i was messing up soooo bad! he was pleasantly surprised at my success. as was i. ace just played in the corner of the court in his pack-n-play. and yes, i got another ace on nathan....i served a zinger and he joked about having another 'ace'. i told him the first one was the hardest.

then we got home and planned to mow the lawn really fast. but an unfortunate incident involving the mower and the wrong gas tank proved insurmountable. so now, we're starting amazon tours for $3500 a person. it's becoming quite the lucrative business venture. hopefully, today i'll be able to fix that problem.

so then we headed out with friends to see pirates 2....we thought long and hard about the last time we had gone out on a date. it's been a while. we usually just load connor up and head out to dinner or the mall, so this was quite a treat. we went early in the day, so after that the day was pretty much shot. we were just lazy bums the rest of the afternoon......strike that......i was a lazy bum. nathan was studying.....

sunday was normal. we had lunch at gramma's (chicken shack....surprisingly delightful considering the term 'shack' in the title), but it was only us, mike, nicole, and ava, uncle paul, aunt elaine, laura, and joshua. the numbers were down but the insults and jokes flew wild. it ended up boys in one room (world cup, of course) girls in another.....until i went to get connor and found him pulling on aunt elaine's curtains......and joshua said, "we told him to stop..." what a turkey!

just took these pics of the con-miester...i can't believe his birthday is coming up! i have got to get on the ball.

view from the top....

view from the side.....
yes, folks, he sleeps like his daddy!

proof that he WILL get up on his knees....but then drops to his belly and scoots backward

i think he's gonna be in the carpet business. he loves to pull up the edges and roll them back.

When is the little guy's birthday? I love the side picture of him sprawling with his leg hanging out of the crib! Good for you going on a date. So needed and refreshing! How was the 2nd Pirates' movie? Steve is dying to see it, but he is waiting til we can snag our own babysitter to see it together.

Sunday lunch?? I think the numbers were low because no one knew. Or is this some master plan to keep me out of the way?

heather-
i sure hope so. it would be great not to have to rescue him from under couches anymore...:)

jen-
his b-day is sept. 6th. i've got to get party planning. i've got nothin'!

uncle mitchell-
drats! you've discovered our master plan.....mwah ha ha ha ha! actually, nic and i were just going b/c we thought gramma was alone....lo and behold uncle paul was home so we couldn't work out any of our evil plans to avoid him either.

jen- i forgot.....
the flick was way funny. i think it was better than the first as far as johnny depp's character...he was hilarious. and some of the stunts were so outrageous all you could do was laugh....i loved it. although, the "pirates" were tons creepier than the first. i could have done without them being so gross. i told nathan connor wasn't allowed to see it until he was 16 so i could avoid nightmares. :) it was pretty long though. but still good.

We just saw Pirates 2 too! We RARELY get to have date nights. In fact, we've had maybe 5 total since Chloe's been born. At first it was hard to leave her but not it's no problemo for me. I loved the 2nd pirates movie but thought the stunts were a bit crazy. Johnny Depp is always a riot! Have you seen him in willy wonka?

We've been dying to see Pirates II also. We actually just saw Superman Returns in Imax with 3-D glasses Monday at 9:45 p.m. We had some friends watch Esther and we didn't get home til 12:30. How crazy is that! The movie was okay, but anything is great in Imax b/c of the big screen.

alicia-
i thought that about the stunts too, but then they were so over the top i just laughed even more. i haven't seen wonka but you have my interest up. and believe it or not, pirates was the first movie i actually wasn't repulsed by depp. he kind of creeps me out. but he was perfect for jack sparrow.

shannon-
i'm a big fan of imax too. we saw a michael jordan documentary there once and it was pretty cool. not my first film choice, but it was still good.
