well, y'all.....it's that time again. every february fer as far back as i can recollect, we've gone to the palace to enjoy the longhorn world championship rodeo. now you might not expect a rodeo to come to the heart of michigan....but i'll say mile for mile we've got more rednecks than you might 'spect. you might not 'spect that we'd git out to a rodeo either.....but we've got southern/western roots from grampa and gramma sanders. they used to take my dad to rodeos all the time. personally, i think gramma and papa used to pay them to get dad out of their hair--apparently, he was a rascal! you might think nathan would be opposed to such redneck-ish activities. but he's got a secret.....he used to wear his cowboy boots everywhere! see, he's got western/indian roots too! you might not think it with his sleek, smooth city ways and his amazing sense of style. but it's there. the other night we took connor to his first rodeo. so of course that was his first trip to the palace, and his first time to eat COTTON CANDY!! what? did i say that? yup!

i've gotta tell ya--no matter how far you are away from horses..THEY STINK!
just for clarification--no, i don't think my family stinks :-)

grampa, ace, and granny b--thanks for bringing us, guys!

daddy and ace---awww!

it was a little cold in the palace

woo-hoo! i love this blue stuff! just a LITTLE, gramma! :-)

uh, excuse me! a little help! i'm not heavy enough for this seat, and i think it's going to eat me!

LOL!
Were you saying that your family smells like horses?? Read your caption under that photo! Sounds like it to me! :) Thanks for the chuckle!
Nathan made it a point to introduce me to the PA Farm Show every January since we've been together. There is a rodeo there too! It's really fun...even though I am not really in to animals at all, it's a fun and different thing to do - AND FREE!! :) All I have to do is pop a couple allergy pills and I'm good to go!
Glad y'all had a good time!
this post made me laugh :)
ok, shyla....is that better? :-)nathan came home and said the same thing you did. i guess when you're writing it you hear it in your head one way, but everybody reads it the other. :-)
Great captions to your ace photos! i especially liked the last one of the chair about to eat him.
Oh my, I'm afraid Chloe would gobble up cotton candy if she had the chance. She eats everything in sight - even broccoli.
I wouldn't have guessed you were a rodeo lover! Looks like a great time.
